Players maybe not talented enuf but not gutless

Anyone who plays hardnosed football isn't gutless. the players may not be fast enough, strong enuf with quick enough footwork, etc. I am not down on the players but I think the coaches better know they need to take some chances as they are now the underdogs in every game, every game.

Let's see some position battles play out on the field during games. Let's see Mends play several series in a row.

Who do you think might get time at the two tackle positions?

Who else should be playing? I would like your input on the roster. Is there a Scherrf, Bulaga, or Rieff on the squad.

Should they flip flop the two tackles.

Take some chances and play the safeties closer as jNW's safeties were close to the LOS and playing downhill.

Clemson blitzed alot against Lamar Jackson and Louisville which Norm and Phil would never do but they Clemson's DCoord is the former Sooner who had great defenses.

Anthony Gair is a Sr and if he is even close to Taylor or Snyder he needs to get some time to see if he is a playmaker and grades out well.

I haven't seen anyone call the player's gutless. They are out there working hard doing the best they can with the hand they're dealt. The coaching staff on the other hand...

There is no chance Captain Clueless is going to replace Snyder.. He's the white kid walk-on that KF loves so much.. He's one of the worst safeties I can remember.. Behind Snyder is Gervase who also has no business on a big ten roster, but he is another feel good story for KF. So we're set for slow, white safeties.

I'm gonna pick up on this and expand upon it.

When I was much younger and played ball (more than just one sport) I noticed something that was very rare, but it was still real.

There were guys who were outstanding in practice. They just looked better. And of course they would earn a starting spot. But once in a great while some guy would be elevated to starter because of an injury or something else like a guy moving to another town.

Anyway, the "lesser" talent would enter the game and play better and even sometimes become a star. It's like a lightbulb went off and suddenly he's one of the best athletes on the team.

A few times I've seen that with KF teams. 2014 it was obvious that CJB had something that Rudock didn't. Not saying Rudock was untalented. Obviously not. It's just that CJB's presence on the field elevated the team. I also knew that Rudock would remain the QB no matter what just like Vandy stayed the course when the team tanked in 2012.

Now someone is gonna say, "Who would you want other than Vandy in 2012? He was a 3,000 yard guy the year before and touted highly before the season started."

My answer - Honestly, anybody. When your team is in a slide like that, you take chances. Weinke; Sokol, Rudock; CJB put one of those guys on the field to send a message that losing like that will have consequences. But no, I don't recall anyone else getting snaps during the slide.

"How do you know those guys would've helped Josh?"

I don't. But the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results. At least with a change you have a chance of making things better. I don't know if Cirk is as stubborn now as he was then. But that contract gave him the freedom to return to his stubborn ways. And my fear is, that is exactly what has happened.
