Play Desmond King on offense!

I think it's time. Why not? Come on coach! Lets have some fun! We need playmakers. Scratch together 3 runs and teach him the passing tree, a few quick screens to dez instead of mccarron. I mean, if you like him on special teams...uh...just do it already! Imagine dez motioning into formation, faking a sweep and play action to kittle uncovered down the seem or on a corner route. Let's have some fun and add a weapon.

I doubt DK would be against this. The idea was brought up more that once on sound off after the game yesterday. But those two hosts, Ross and Travis, thought it a bad idea that DK could get hurt and they said KF doesnt want to hurt DKs pro chances which is illogical.

That is such and illogical reason because first of all DK returns punts and kicks which is major collision time. And most of the time as a Dback the plays are going away from him. DK has great hands and is quick and shifty. He could be used as a decoy or a few times on some passes.

I've been saying this since before the season. 10 offensive plays per game isn't unreasonable as he's already proven that he's the most dangerous guy Iowa has in the open field and it's not really close

So if I'm reading you correctly you're saying take our best player and utilize his skill set in all three areas of the game to gain an advantage over our rivals?

What kinda program do you think we are? The evil kind that puts up 78 points on our opponents??

Kirk, what are you waiting for???? How many threads from us do you need to see, before you bend your stubborn knee

(yeah, that rhymes)

If nothing else he would be a great decoy on offense. He would not have to learn the whole playbook ... just throw him a bubble screen once in awhile to keep the defense honest.

On defense, I would like to see them let King play either the right or left side just to keep the opposing QB and OC from avoiding his side of the field. Match him up more with the best WR.

I'd settle for 5 plays a game, with maybe 3-4 of them where he is nothing more than a decoy. I know, craaaazzzy.

Question, who better to have go up for a deep jump/50-50 ball? There might not be too many in the country better at body position and hands than Thorpe winning DB's....

Heck, put him on on 5 plays....decoy...then throw him a bomb...just once or twice....make that DC think for a tick.

I mean, this is nutso thinking tho...

I love hypotheticals. Here our some others that could jump start the offense.

1. Jet sweep series with Wadley coming across the formation and Daniels at tailback.

2. Wildcat formation with DMX or King shotgun at QB, and Wadley at RB. Actually, you could have Boyle at QB, if he's a good enough athlete to play WR let him run, defense would have to somewhat respect the pass too.

3. Screens - I'd love to see the old Iowa tunnel screen more and maybe even a TE screen to Kittle or Fant.

4. Shotgun formation with CJ flanked by Wadley and DMX. Similar to what you see with OU with Mayfield, Perine, and Mixon.

5. My personal favorite. Grab some pads for Ahmad Wagner and Tyler Cook (c'mon Fran they won't get hurt), have them work on route trees in the red zone with CJ. Put them in there in the red zone, if they put two safeties high run the ball, if not... THROW IT UP!

Okay the last one is a joke, sort of, but the other ones are reasonable ways to get the ball in the hands of playmakers and jump start the offense. Someone email Kirk.

I got a couple additional questions:

1) isn't true the right-handed QBs throw a larger percentage of passes to the right side of the field than the left side?

2) and since Iowa doesn't mirror DBs vs. WRs because we play zone 85% of the time, why wasn't King moved to the left side before last season?

I said this of Dez over a month ago...

Part of me thinks it would be hilarious to see Peppers and King matched up against each other on both sides of the ball under the lights.
