Places to tailgate: Minnesota (Minneapolis )

I was wondering if anyone had any info on tailgating at Minnesota? I am taking a group of four guys this year and we are hoping to get there early and party first. We are hoping to be able to grill and drink, but I have no idea if this is possible there. Does anyone have any info on places that we might be able to tailgate?

Haven't tried, but it's quite difficult, considering the lack of open parking lots where tailgating is allowed. You essentially need to find a spot in a 'Season Parking Pass Only' lot...

Really no places exists... its actually a worse parking/tailgaiting scenario than the old metrodome. Gopher fans don't know what tailgating is anyway.

I don't have any direct experience with this plan, but its a plan. UM runs a shuttle bus from the state fairgrounds (east campus) to the new stadium. Clearly, there will be almost unlimited parking. I don't know that tailgating will be allowed there, but it would make sense. I also don't know how long it takes to shuttle to the stadium. I have a motel room just north of the fairgrounds (Courtyard by Marriot) at a VERY reasonable price...under $100. Looks like a 10 minute drive from there to the shuttle area.

I did something similar in Columbus last year on my trip to the Big House. It worked really well. If anyone has additional info on my "plan" I would be grateful.

I would plan on going to Ann Arbor to see a game at the Big House and going to C-Bus for a game at the 'Shoe.
