Phil Steele-Michigan Wolverines....WOW!

I put this as a reply to Jon's Phil Steele All Big Ten teams, but felt it deserved it's own thread.

In the last 30 years of Big Ten football (which pretty much encompasses the length of time I've watched), has there ever been a time when a Michigan team did not get a single member of it's football team on the Preseason First Team? I know this is Phil Steele and not AP or some other more well known service. But still, that really hit home for me just how far they've fallen.

Plus, it's always nice to take a dig at Deace's favorite team!! :D

How far has Michigan fallen?

I honestly didn't even think of them/forgot about them during bowl season - now that is saying something!

Again, it's preseason stuff. One mans opinion. Not to say he doesn't know his stuff. But it is just his opinion.

Except on this subject, it's a widely held opinion. Michigan just doesn't have very many All-Big Ten guys. They lost the only two they had from last year (Graham and Warren), and Forcier/Robinson is their best hope this year. The Big Ten is pretty deep at QB this year with Pryor, Stanzi, Cousins, Chappell, Tolzien, and then even Weber (if he can be consistent) and Marve. So the chances are pretty slim.

I anticipate that Michigan has some WRs who have All-Big Ten potential ... however, that potential will only get realized with a decent passing QB throwing them the ball. While Denard Robinson could very well be better passing the ball than most of us realize ... it's rarely good for a receiving game to have first-year starter at QB ... one who is run-first, no less.
