Peyton Manning declared out for season

The Colts owner, Jim Irsay, announced this morning that Peyton Manning will not return this season and probably won't even return to practice until December.

And with the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft the Indianapolis Colts select Andrew Luck. Actually, I think he Chefs might still be the worst team in the league this year.

As a Chefs fan, they showed some signs of life yesterday. But yes, they are basically on an iron lung right now.

Jacksonville is pretty crappy.
The Colts showed a lot of life last night. I'm a Steeler fan, but they did not deserve to win that game. Colts outplayed them.

If Indy gets Luck it reminds me of the year that David Robinson was hurt and the Spurs got Tim Duncan ... no fair

Even if the Chiefs got the first pick, I would hope they trade down, because they dont need luck. They have STANZI!

You can play Duncan and Robinson next to each other. You can't play Manning and Luck next to each other. I would think that the Colts would trade the #1 pick if they had it. That or draft Luck and sit him on the bench for 4 years.

No way do they pass on Luck.

It depends. How loyal are they to Manning? Drafting a QB #1 and putting him on the bench for 4 years doesn't make much sense. Drafting him and having him learn behind maybe the smartest QB of all time does make sense though. So does Manning only play 2 more seasons? That would be perfect. He'd be 38 too. But if he doesn't want to retire do the Colts force him to the bench in favor of Luck?

With having 3 neck surgeries and a somewhat uncertain future for Manning. I don't see how a franchise passes on a guy with Luck's ability.

They were finally able to stretch the field a bit. Word is that Cassel is finally healthy and can now throw the ball....but that doesn't really make too much sense considering they didn't get a play over 4 yards until the 3rd Q. The OL seems awful and if it weren't for McCluster, they wouldn't even have a semblance of a running game. They just aren't good. I thought the D would be better than it has been, but losing Berry doesn't help. I think Rivers said last year that Berry was already one of the best safeties in the league as a rookie.

I would say the two worst team battle will be between the Chiefs and Miami. Thank goodness my Bills are not one of them as predicted to be!

The colts still have a lot of talent on that team. Painter had some decent throws under pressure and a few drops by our beloved Clark did not help. I really don't think they will be picking first next year. There are also a lot of solid QBs in next years draft. I can think of a few they could pick up later on and develop over the next 4 years.

I would have thought Seattle was clearly playing for Luck by starting Tavaris Jackson. Then, they went ahead and won a game. Sometimes you can't even lose on purpose in that division.
