Perfect Game

Not that the Hawks played perfectly, but I believe this was a perfect game for the Hawks to continue their development as a team this season. Showed that the team can win more than one way. Also, it was a great teaching opportunity for some of the less experienced starters. It gave the team valuable experience in a tough environment and finally, it was a win.

Lots of people fretting about giving up the points in the 4th quarter. I guarantee that will be some of the most useful film the Hawks have all season.

I liked the fact the D was able to adjust after a drive or two to Denard Robinson. There were some mental lapses after Forcier came in and I would have liked to have seen the D drop the hammer on him. Among other things I think the D gained a deeper appreciation for the O's ability to win games (although I fully acknowledge the D put the O in good field positions to score.)

I agree about the mental lapses. That is why I think the film will be so helpful. It is great to shut teams down with a bunch of 3 and outs. But that doesn't let guys like Morris, Johnson, Neilson, and Hyde get a whole lot of instruction pertaining to what they are doing on the field. That is why the high number of plays might actually help in the long run.

It really is good to be able to get that many reps coming off a bye week.

CAARHawk makes some excellent points. Even though Michigan should not have had more than 14 points, the two mistakes by the secondary that allowed the extra two TD's provide excellent teaching moments. Now if only we learn those lessons and begin applying them against Bucky and the Bielema boys on Saturday, the extra 14 points will have been well worth it.

What I like the most is the impact that the Michigan game should have on the D's attitude.

While Iowa got a big W against a quality opponent ON THE ROAD ... you better believe that the D is probably going to treat the game as a L. Whenever you can "lose" without losing ... that often does a lot to fuel the fire in their belly. They're likely going to want to come out and make a statement. If they are able to slow Wisky's powerful running game ... then that would be QUITE a statement.

From what I've seen, Wisky has one of the best OL's in the country. Iowa's DL and D as a whole will have their hands full. If they have luck defending against Wisky ... then they'll have their STATEMENT!
