pep song dilemma

There is a singing part in Beethoven's ninth. A lot of churches have ripped it off and turned it into a hymn. We can turn it into a pep song.

Here are some suggestive lyrics.

We're the Hawkeyes, mighty Hawkeyes
We're the best team in the land
We will beat you, that is certain
We will make a mighty stand

We'll defeat you and disgrace you
You have no chance to prevail

We're the Hawkeyes, mighty Hawkeyes
Were so good we can not not fail

This is definitely unique. Imagine the impact if a string quartet trotted out to half-court during the first television timeout and led the student section in joyous song.

When I have the time I want to set a pep song to the tune of Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro.

I think our percussion is too young this year to pull it off. We have some depth in brass and woodwind. Maybe next years squad will be able to handle the 9th. This year is just too young and inexperienced.

Some say opera is better than it sounds.
