Sorry no link...well penn state just became big ten contenders. With only a year and a half of penalties, the ncaa lets them out of timeout early. If the ncaa had any credibility left over, they just lost it all. Bowl ban lifted, and all 85 scholarships fot next year. Wow penn state really learned their lesson. Great job Ncaa!

Sandusky is gone, Joe Paterno is dead. And it's not like the U$C situation, where a coach just leaves for a different job.

The penalties were over-the-top, and many on "the committee" represent schools who could write a book on cheating.

The Morality Play we are witnessing across the sports world is getting ruthless and out-of-hand, anyway.

You've got some morality problems of your own.

I side with Bob on this. The issue doesn't have anything to do with what's on the field. Sandusky should die in jail. But the current players should have a chance to compete for something.

SMU football disagrees with you.

This is complete bunk. Pedo State should have received the death penalty for this, and nothing less. It is far worse than what happened at the schools that got far worse than what Pedo State got. They are a disgrace.

They had a chance to go to schools that didn't cover up for a child molester.

And look how those transfers did. And look what a travesty has been made of "hardship" transfers. Not to mention The Wisconsin Needs a QB rule.

What happened at PSU was terrible. But don't punish players, students and fans.

And "current" players at PSU didn't have that option, not to mention just being "allowed" to transfer doesn't take care of academic progress, relationships built at the school, etc.

The NCAA changed rules mid-stream. They removed information on the death penalty from their website, and PSU was punished, in part, as vengeance for being able to say, previously, that they had never been on NCAA probation.

Whole thing was in the grey area as it gets. They end up punishing the people that didn't deserve it, but at the same time the school was used to start the whole ordeal.. IDK in the end NCAA probably should of left it alone after the punishment went out.

It was DEFINITELY a tough issue. How will schools feel when they are punished and/or penalized for other off-field issues? What happens when the sexual assault situations at Iowa extend beyond the perpetrators? What if the DJK situation had resulted in no bowl game that year?

The slope is very slippery...

Remember when their students were tipping over news trucks and rioting to support a coach that protected a child molester? Oh, I guess that doesn't matter anymore... I don't think that the entirety of Penn State deserves to be punished, but Penn state has been fighting any and all NCAA sanctions since the beginning. At some point, somebody in power should have taken some accountability and said, "we deserve this punishment." Both the former and current administration took no accountability whatsoever. This just sends the message that football is more important than any sort of academic or ethical excellence that this Big 10 University supposedly stands for.

The current president should have vocally accepted the sanctions and lambasted anyone blinded by their allegiance to Penn State football.

the NCAA lost any credibility it had with "we can find no wrong doing in the Cam Newton case". It went into the negative with how it handled Rapist Winston. The NCAA is beyond a joke.

This is a situation where the players did nothing wrong. Nothing was done to enhance their ability on the field, no selling jerseys. It was a criminal matter that the University and some members of staff bungled. This was a horrible nasty act. The NCAA should have went in and said anyone who is connected with this in anyway including the president of the university should be fired. They didn't. Probably because it's not in their power. The NCAA made a statement with these sanctions and many who had nothing to do with the incident got hurt.
