Sorry to start a new thread but I want to discuss a new idea. I hate the idea of paying athletes to come to school. It solves nothing. Better players will still get paid under the table more than they should be getting paid etc. Also, do we pay football players the same as the diving team members?
Anyway, it seems more and more likely that the student-athletes are going to be considered employees that provide entertainment that will get paid. Though I think this is stupid because they are getting a free education, room and board, and tons of other benefits that we don't really see.
However if this is the case and players get paid I think that they should then in turn have to pay for their tuition, room and board etc. They are no longer student-athletes but employees of the university and should have to pay their own way.
What does everyone else think of that?
