Paul Millsap drops 46 on the Miami Heat

Best part about tonight was that the Heat blew a 22 point lead, and then in OT the Jazz beat them without their best two players (Williams and JEfferson).

Also in the NBA tonight the Pacers went 20-for-21 and scored 54 points in the 3rd quarter alone! Their only miss was on a desperation 3 at the 3rd quarter buzzer! WOW!!!

I find myself following the NBA, and the NBA even seems to be more entertaining than college basketball at times.

This one's on Chris Bosh, it's one thing if Dwight Howard or Gasol but 40 up on you, but to let Paul Milsap get 46, that does not bode well for the Heat.

Maybe the media will actually take the Heat's you know what out of their mouths now and begin to realize that although Miami does have 2 of the top 4 players in the league, they have no viable inside presence, and no depth. Unless they are able to change this, those things will come back to haunt them in the playoffs.

If the Celtics go into Miami and beat them again tomorrow night, does the finger pointing begin? I realize it is WAY early, but this team has expectations and hype that is through the roof. Hell, they even have their own page on ESPN.com called "The Heat Index."

Yeah if they lose to Boston again, I think they will start to get criticized pretty heavily. Everyone knew they were going to be outmatched at center but if they are getting worked at PF too, they're really going to be in trouble. I don't think the depth will be that big of an issue, especially when they get Miller back, but the lack of an inside presence is really going to hurt them.

If things had went differently this summer, a Bulls team of Noah, Bosh, Gibson, LeBron, Rose and Korver would be looking pretty damn tough right now.

No denying this was a tough loss at home for Miami. However, Millsap hit more 3's in the last 28 seconds of this game than he had previously in his career (2 for 20 before last night). He had 0 this year before this game. So, it was a bit of a fluke. He gets credit for making them, but who could have guessed he would hit 3 in a row?

That said, the discussion of a lack of inside presence and depth will be an issue for Miami if this is not corrected during the season.

I saw only the replays..but the dude wasn't just hitting them. The shots were scraping the rafters and coming down almost without even hitting net. Very unlikely happenings...

I agree there was an element of luck involved with Millsap makin' it rain on South Beach last night. The thing that they should be more disappointed in is that once Millsap did force the OT with his barrage of 3s, they simply had to beat a Utah team without Deron Williams (top 3 PG in NBA) and AL Jefferson. In OT the Jazz had Ronny Price running the point with Millsap, Andrei Kirilenko, Kyrylo Fesenko and Francisco Elson. You ask who these guys are? My point exactly. Miami will have no issues winning 55-65 games, but they have to be able to win games like this.

Interestingly, the Jazz were down 18 in the 3rd against the Magic last night and came back and beat them too.

When the season is over we may look back and say that what Utah has done the last two nights on the road was the most impressive back-to-back wins of the season. To think they lost three key players (all to the Bulls) this offseason, and are still doing this is pretty impressive. Somehow though, they still have three losses, including a blowout loss in Denver, which is where the Lakers put their 8-0 record on the line tonight... Should be interesting...

And the Celtics win tonight in Miami. The Heat are 5-4. 70 wins? Hmmmm ...

Yeah, long season, but that whole "this team can win 73 games and break the Bulls record" talk is out the window. They are now 0-2 against the defending Eastern Conference Champs.

Here's to the Lakers getting to 9-0! :D

The thing with the heat is they don't really have a pg or a C. Bosh is completely overrated and I think the Heat are too. They are a good team but that is all. The Lakers are sooo much better and deeper than any other team in this league. Shannon Brown is the best backup pg in the league also...

Also, Boston is great too and their big man depth is nasty. Rondo was sick against Miami tonight...he is kinda good

Brown is so improved it is crazy! Technically, Blake is the backup PG. The combo of him and Brown though, with Barnes and eventually Odom off the bench is ridiculous. While everyone was busy getting on their knees for the Heat this summer, I was sitting back and watching what the Lakers were doing to remain the best team in basketball. It is nice that others are starting to see it too. It is early, but the Lakers and Heat couldn't be further apart at this point.
