I thought he'd be closer to a 5 star
The first rankings are typically filled with guys whose bodies have just matured well beyond that of a freshman, and are just extremely athletic with little skill. Patrick is rail thin right now, I think the rating speaks highly of his skill level while his body has yet to mature.
I think it's usually the opposite which is why Connor started out so high and has fell some
I hope both the McCaffery boys are successful at Iowa, and I enjoy seeing them play. A guy ending up being in the NBA is pretty much a crap shoot when they are in high school. A great one comes along every once in awhile, but it is a rare occurrence. I don't expect Connor to be the next Magic Johnson, but I hope he has fun at Iowa. I imagine both Patrick and Connor would walk away from basketball if it guaranteed their health. There are lots of things more important. If they have a good work ethic, which I'm sure they do, they will be successful in life. They have to much going for them not to be. There are some things that will ruin your life though no matter what you have going for you. Look at what drugs did to Roy Marble. There was a young former Iowa and pro football player that died recently from the effects of football on his brain.Agree to disagree. Connor was also pretty solidly built and is a 6'5 PG which is big for the position. Patrick is much more thin and is a 6'7 SF which is average sized for the position.
Demetrius Walker ring a bell? Probably not. He was tabbed as the next Lebron James in Sports Illustrated as a 6'2 8th grader and #1 player in his class. He never grew and wound up never averaging more than 7 pts a game as a 3* recruit.

All the sites list Connor as a SG or SF so I don't think he got to where he was because of his size. I think the most skilled players get better rankings right away where the better athletes move ahead of them as they progress
Not sure why Connor is listed as anything but a PG because that's what he is and what he plays. Recruiting sites get that wrong a lot though.
