Patrick Ingram Makes People Look Stupid

I'm not quite sure what to expect from Patrick next year, but I do know one thing: as a high school player, he made more defenders look like children than any 6'3" kid I've ever seen, and that can't be a bad thing.

The video looked average to me. He's got to a develop a jumpshot to be a major contributor. His explosion looked average, nothing jaw-dropping. And as another said, every clip is him driving and finishing with his right.

He's got a good body, looks reasonably athletic, and I'd imagine he plays with a lot of intensity. My guess is a role player, but of course there is four years of practice and games to sort that out.

I think he is going to be a super-competitor,a glue guy, whose offensive game needs development. Too early to label him, tho,so I will take the wait and see approach with him. A good team needs a variety of players, and we might not have a guard like him on the roster going forward. If he could be an Aaron Craft-like defensive stopper that is very valuable.

Yeah, & wasn't Forbes supposed to bring Craft with him if he got the job?

Look to the defensive side, my friend...he has other parts of his game that will help the Hawks, but I do agree...if he works on the offense, even more PT will be the result. He may be the redshirt possibility in this class...if he agrees to it.

Obviously, Fran thinks more of the kid than you do.

Nah. Craft's presence at the infamous Bruce Pearl house party did spark the investigation that ended with Forbes lying to NCAA investigators along with Pearl, and cost everyone their jobs, tho.

Craft was already signed sealed and delivered to OSU by then.
The recruit that Forbes was involved with was another guard, who ended up going to KU,and left to the NBA after one so-so year in Kansas...name Josh something.

Josh Selby. THANKS.

I think a midrange jumper can be developed. Bryce Cartwright could make shots off the dribble, but was hardly effective when he attempted shots off of passes. I would guess that when he shot the ball off receiving a pass he was barely a 30% shooter...probably less.

But, he was a good assist man.

I think Ingram will come in and give a boost to perimeter defense and he has the foundation of a good drive and dish game.

Really like this kid...but, better spend the summer working on his left hand!

That is exactly what I was thinking. The kid can go strong to his right but not once did he attempt to go to his left. Teams will scout that and force him to go left.

So if Fran brings in a JUCO wing or that ASU transfer, will that mean Ingram redshirts or will he play next year no matter what?

Obviously, Fran thinks more of the kid than you do.

I just observed what I saw from a 5 minutes video clip buddy. Didn't say he didn't deserve a scholarship or doesn't have a role. And I think its pretty apparent a Big 10 basketball coach who gets paid millions to do his job is better at evaluating talent than some anonymous internet hack. It shouldn't be considered treasonous to state a few observations.

Like some of those picks he had off guys trying to dribble past him. Hopefully be a little bit better than Mike Henderson. Seemed to be fairly impressive and getting contact and finishing pretty easily.

You also aren't going to get a good judge of a kid from a video like that...watch him in person, or on TV prior to making any real judgements.

Iowa has a couple really good PG's coming in next season that is from watching games of Gesell on the tube and Clemmons in person. The abilities that Ingram appears to have will make him a contributor next season. We'll see come fall and when the season starts.
I think Fran is going to have the ability to work in all the freshman, not named Gesell/Clemmons in at a slower pace. A lot like he did with Aaron White and Oglesby. White obviously became a major contributor and Ogelsby a very sold contributor with both showing a ton of potential.
