our defense this year is so much better

however our outside shooting is a pretty handicapping atm.

Teams should just pack it in and let us launch all night.

Even when we get good looks they just are not falling.

The defense is far ahead of the offense, when was the last time you could say that?

If Iowa can start hitting 4-7 three's a game they will become "that team" nobody wants to see.

Huge test on the road at OSU Tuesday, OSU isn't a great shooting team, so if Iowa can keep the defensive intensity up, it could be an interesting game.

I really think Iowa can get OSU. They are the least impressive of the good BIG teams in my mind. Still will be tough obviously but I really think we can beat them.

Craft will be scary because he could really mess with our frosh guards. He could mentally beat them up. If anyone can get in their heads it is him. The nice thing with osu is you just have to keep 1 guy down. Now that is hard to do but really they are a 1 man show on offense. But I do think that craft will produce more offense consistently in the b1g.

I agree. If we can win our next 2 games, I think we will have a really good shot at making the tourney.

Highly unlikely Iowa wins at Ohio State, I just hope they can play better against a good opponent on the road and not let this turn into another Michigan performance.

I don't think we can. We can't line up with athletic teams.

At home yes, on the road is another story so far this year. I don't think OSU is athletic as UofM and yes I realize they beat UofM. They way they play defensively as a team, it isn't just Craft that Smith kid is better than good as well.

Williams/Ravenel/Thompson protect the rim as good as anyone as well.

Key to the game is to get the ball up the court, I think Iowa will have to utilize Marble helping bringing the ball up the floor. Put Woodbury on the offensive end and let the other four players bring the ball up together.

Turnovers bringing the ball up the court and taking quick shots will be the undoing of the Hawks, if they are unable to win or compete.

If we can somehow hold DeShaun Thomas down, we have a chance, but it is one of the hardest places for us to win......

Same as always, keep turnovers low and make most, if not all, free throws.....

They have quite a few superior athletes......

I know Fran has the reputation for being an offensive minded coach, and I believe he's even said as much, but his offense and defense ratings were always about even at Siena, and his first and third years at Iowa his defense has been better than his offense. Last year's defense was so atrocious is clouds people's judgment.

I don't think anyone is as athletic as Michigan. The way they play looks like a team from the 80's.

Agreed, and having absolutely no interior presence is hard to overcome for any coach. Iowa's defense has been very solid when Iowa has had Cole or Woodbury around to protect the rim.

They remind me of the '89 Illinois team that lost to Michigan in the Final Four. If Michigan decides to play defense they way they are capable for 40 minutes a game, or even 30, rather than 20, the would be really scary.

This. Iowa isn't going to have a Center that leads the Big Ten in blocks, but having guys in the middle to contest shots makes things a whole lot different.

I asked myself after I saw Bergerren drive by McCabe, why didn't he do that against Woodbury and it is easy. Woodbury with his height could lay off a bit, but still contest any shot he put up as evidenced when Woodbury guarded him.

Having a guy that challenges things makes a huge difference.

Woody's presence in the paint has stopped and deflected shots, in addition to a block every now and then. His rebounding is also helping considerably......

He is responding to game experience very well and has made a signficant difference on D......
