Our 2013 LB crew....it's not all about the stars

Certainly getting high rated guys is good at times but here were the ratings in scout for our guys:

Morris - 3*
Hitchens - 2*
Kirksey - 2*

they sure ended up looking a lot better than that.

Hithchens was listed at RB. Great job by the coaches and players.

It it was great watching these guys for 4 years. Good luck as you each pursue the the NFL.

You can say that about most of the top players/units in the Ferentz era. The guy can develop players.

I may sound arrogant here, but I thought that you could see that Morris was going to be special form day 1. He (like Ruddock, IMO) has a poise, confidence, and intensity that you could see even in their high school interviews. Am hopeful for the next crew, though who knows which lbs will step up the most….

Not only can he develop players, he seems really good at spotting under the radar talent. He finds guys like Kirksey, Hitchen, Hyde, and a slew of others that come in and contribute early. You don't contribute early without talent.

This is a ******** argument.

They all benefited from being starters before they really had any business being starting LBers for a B1G team. What they accomplished this year is special and they are all going to be in the NFL deservedly, but let's not act like we didn't have some pretty big growing pains out of our LB's the 3 years.

Tanner Miller was also a 2* recruit. Goes both ways. And yes I think Tanner Miller was not good. I can say that knowing his family.

What does his family have to do with it?

I meant it is not an attack on him personally because I know him and his family, all great people, but I don't think he's a good football player. It's kind of like what Clark said, but I know you can't attack a player on this board, so I wasn't attacking him, just saying his skill set left a lot to be desired.

All I can remember from his Freshman year is him getting torched at Penn State non-stop and thinking "we have four years of this?"
