Died of heart failure. He resigned from Saint Louis a few weeks ago after being on medical leave.

R.I.P.

Dude was a pretty good coach. He was an Al McGuire disciple, wasn't he?

That's too bad, big loss for the game

When I lived in Iowa City there was one afternoon where everyone believed the following rumor: Majerus was coming to IC, he was going to live at the Sheraton (he lived in hotels) and he was going to be a spokesman for Pancheros. I miss all the great rumors from living in IC

I believe all of this was almost true.. except for the Panchero's thing.

Majerus was a heckuva coach and an interesting and entertaining man. Unfortunately, he was also a bit of a glutton who lived in hotels and ate all of his meals in restaurants. He had been battling health problems for years and finally succumbed to his lifestyle. He would have been a fan favorite here, but I'm glad we didn't hire him.

He was a great coach and a real character. I, too, was hoping he would end up here, but I think the health concerns about his heart were a factor even then.

RIP Coach Majerus, you will be missed.

I remember when the rumor popped up that Majerus was interested in the Iowa job when Alford left and how excited I was for a night.

He's was a great coach and sounded like an even better person. Sad news indeed.
