OT: Lou-a-ville and Pitino

Two things: This happens everywhere and Pitino knew all about it.

To me, it's worse if Pitino DIDN'T know about it than if he did. That's a lack of control and he's not a very good manager of a program if something that big is going on and he doesn't know about it. On the flip side, if he did know about it, I don't see it as that big of a deal (still a big deal, but not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be), because it happens everywhere and he has to compete for top recruits somehow. What upsets me is what college sports has become and that I wasn't good enough to get strippers when I was being recruited.

It probably would be wrong to tar the son with the same broad brush as the father, but why should that stop us? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree; like father-like son, etc., etc. It's a safe bet little Richie Pitino learned the game of college basketball and everything that goes with it at his father's knee.

If I'm Beth Goetz (and thankfully I'm not), I'm calling Richie into the office and asking him about what kind of arrangements are made for recruits and their visiting families/guests. I'm also asking him point blank whether sexual services are being procured for same. He will deny it, of course. But I then proceed to hire Fred Garvin look-alike private eyes to closely monitor basketball recruiting activities on and off campus to see whether he's telling teh truth.

I will be extremely surprised if Pitino is let go. sounds like everyone there is dead set on protecting him from this scandal. And to expect the NCAA to intervene is gullible at best. Louisville is one of the fat cats and there is too much money involved.

Not sure all colleges have members of their coaching staff hiring strippers/hookers for party's in the dorms so it might be a stretch to say this happens everywhere.

That said question the credibility of someone essentially stating that she pimped out her daughters the process. I'm kind of questioning her motives for coming forward with this, but where there's smoke theres fire.

How nice of him to deflect it at the players by not showing up. Dodge the media for a day, I'm sure that'll make it go away. So in Rick's opinion since he doesn't want "a distraction" does that mean the program, players, coaches, fanbase, and anyone else associated with the university doesn't see it as one at this point. Guy is delusional.

Pitino is going to make a ton of money this year. He doesn't sound like a guy that really cares what other people think. If the report is accurate, its just a fact of life that there are users and abusers. If someone doesn't care they just don't care. Pitino and Williams will both probably go down as hall of fame coaches just like Wooden did.

Maybe not strippers and hookers, but "recruiting ambassadors" that get paid to have sex with recruits. Wait, that's kind of the definition of a hooker. A guy I went to HS with played for ISU and actually married his assigned "ambassador".

My guess would be boosters with deep pockets. They know how to get around the NCAA. If you can't give it to a recruit/current athlete then give it to those recruiting them. Besides that way it keeps the head coach out of the loop as well so they can continue to play dumb.
