Because you dont get points for running really fast and throwing the ball off the backboard.

Have some of you lost your minds? I dont think half of you goobers are qualified to set the starting line up on a video game.

If I put a quarter in your gumball machine , all your gumballs would fall out of your mind! ( it shows how easy to lose your mind in his avatar):p

OOTH, that has plagued all of Iowa's pg's this season. The difference between the 3 pg's is 2 are juniors that are still throwing it off the backboard and 1 is a freshman. Freshmen need playing time to grow. The 2 juniors already are who they are going to be at Iowa.

You cant wash the season right now and say we have decided that we are going to work on the youngsters because I think we will miss the tourny.

TD had tons of trouble against cupcakes.

Duh OOTH! I thought you knew... everyone in here would make tremendous D1 coaches; if it weren't for those pesky day jobs.

Im fine with people saying that a coach should do this or that. Thats part of being a fan.

However Id like to see one person on here that could say-

Im going to start all the underclassmen because after 11 games Ive decided this year is over. Thanks for coming to play at Iowa but Im going to give the younger guys a shot.

Its fine to play a younger player because hes better. Its stupid to play a younger player because he could be better. Also the player in question will not be better than the players that are starting right now. *spoiler*

This season isn't remotely over and to think otherwise is asinine.

We simply need to get better guard play. You do that by:

1) Sitting Oglesby.
2) Getting a shooter on the floor that can stretch the D just a little bit.

Your choices are pretty slim at SG.

You have Oglesby...see #1 above. That experiment just have ended 2 years ago.
You have Jok who has yet to find a shot he doesn't like but has yet to find a shot that he can consistently hit. He also is turrible at playing defense. Not a good combination from your shooting guard.
You have Gesell who is a PG
You have Clemmons who apparently refuses to shoot.
You have Ellingson who is probably the best of the choices right now but he's a FR and is dealing with injuries and probably should have redshirt.

So what should you do? Recruit better guard players

He shouldn’t be starting, but he should be at the point of receiving extended minutes on a regular basis by now. He’s the only player on our roster that can create off the dribble, and right now our offense desperately needs that. Fran’s use of him in the non-conference has been inexcusable. He makes one mistake or missed shot and gets yanked, while more experienced players stay in the game after several mistakes.

Hey, it works for Kirk Ferentz! Is there a coaches book that is required reading at the university of iowa?

Give me more Trey-bell...I think we've all waited a long time when we heard he was coming to Iowa to see exactly what he can do.......PG's are going to make mistakes, but he's going to do more good than bad, so what gives Fran? Get him in there and keep Og's riding the pine....Fran needs some stones and stick w/a line up that's up to the task of what he wants....better transition, better defense, presses, etc....All I see is Fran yelling or talking to his team during timeouts, I never see him drawing up any plays.....I'm feeling that Fran is in over his head in the B1G....

This is where I'm at. No, TD shouldn't start, but you've got to find a way to get him some minutes. What are we afraid of - losing all of Clemmons' and Oglesby's production? Sure, TD is going to make some mistakes, but sometimes that's how you learn. Don't just bench the kid and yell at him if he messes up - TEACH him! If he starts catching on, then expand his playing time. If not, then that sucks, but at least you tried. Besides, what good is it going to do him, rotting on the bench?

He shouldn't be starting but at least get him some minutes. He can turn the ball over just as good as the others on the team. He's not gonna hurt you by giving him 5-6 min a half.

You can't score if you don't shoot... Clemmons.

100% Agree and have said this forever. Peter needs to start over him no question. Can't have your 2 guard not be any threat to a team what so ever. He stands at the top of the key and dribbles for about 1p secs then pass... every time. Having freaking Bricklesby out there is more of a threat to a defense cuz an opposing coach still respects him. Clemmons does this team nothing but maybe a little toughness.
