One thing that I am very concerned about

A lot of hyperbole about Pearl being interested this time...

I think he is the first choice of every Iowa fan, and rightly so... but is there any real evidence that he would listen or that this even remotely interests him?

But there are a lot of coaches I would love to hire, and hiring successful coaches away from power conferences isn't exactly an easy thing to do regardless of money.

If Pearl is not the next coach, my concern is that whomever it is from Steve Lavin to Keno Davis is going to result in a collective sigh from Hawkeye Nation.

Is Bruce Pearl the only coaching candidate that will truly unite the fanbase and get 100% of the base excited again?
 
Any of the 5 people I listed in the Top 5 thread would work for me. I realize it's a longshot Pearl would come here.
 
Springsteen. Not to be a jerk but do you really have to start a new thread for every single thought you come up with? You've probably started 20 threads in the past couple of days. It is ok to post thoughts within other threads that have the same subject matter.

What if somebody was hired that wasn't in your top 5?

I think the OP is making a great point. Alsmot everybody has Pearl in their top 5 but after that there are all kinds of names being thrown out.

Lick wasn't in my top 5 last time we did this and I was fine with it. The Dayton coach is the one I can say I 100% don't want along with Jacobson. I think Barta knows he has to make a good hire. The way things ended I think new blood is going to energize the fanbase. At least, I hope it does.

I hope the fan base does get energized as well.

However, like you said Lick wasn't in your top 5 last time and probably not many peoples. So if we don't get a hire that people want, they may fear a repeat even more if its not somebody they personally want.

"oh this hire is just as bad as hiring Lick"

I can hear it already.

You couldn't pay me to go watch "the boss". If I wanted to hear someone grunt in a constipated manner for 2 hours I'd eat a wheel of cheese.
 
Apparently Pearl said something along the lines of "the bigten is a power conference, the SEC is not." on the radio the other day, I wouldnt read to much into that but you never know.
 
The "boss" hasnt made a good record/cd since The River, he's completely over the hill and insignificant, and I think he actually grunts for over 3 hours a show, I bet ExLax would make him run better.
