Not sure if it matters or not...
McCaffrey was part of 2 NCAA teams and one NIT team at Penn as a player (PG). In 1981-82 he lead the Ivy League in assists and steals. He was coached by Bob Weinhauer. Weinhauer coached Penn to 5 straight Ivy League titles. He then coached at Arizona St. for three years. This included coaching Byron Scott. Weinhauer has had several NBA jobs including assistant GM for Philadelphia and VP of basketball operations for the Houston Rockets when they won it all in 1993-94.
IMO, if there is anything to take out of this, McCaffrey should have an idea that it is important to have a good PG. And maybe there are some NBA connections through his former head coach.
