One concern

Obviously delighted with the win and the way we played. I was a little concerned that we seem to be leaning on QB sneaks for our short yardage bread and butter. I like the idea of being able to pound it inside, but at this point in the year it seems like the short yardage game is in the hands of the QB.

Im sure the coaches saw a mismatch. In past years the sneak was used but not a lot so there had to be something in ISU they could exploit.

The QB sneak was good everytime because ISU wasn't blocking the middle of the line. They had the Guards blocked by DT's, and the LBs were too far off the line for the QB sneak to not be effective. Pretty scary that a RS FR was leading that charge.

I feel just the opposite. I think trusting the line to get a push so that the QB sneak is effective is a really good sign.

Not to mention that fact that I would rather have several 3rd and shorts like we did today than 3rd and longs. We had very few of those today

I agree. Too many times in the past I feel Iowa has tried to run it on 3 or 4th and short when a QB sneak would get the distance. I'm actually very happy to see the confidence in the line and QBs to get 1 - 2 yards.

We could have used a QB sneak against MSU in '08 when Greene was tackled for a 2 yard loss on 4th and Inches. I LOVE the QB sneak in this type of situation.

Exactly! Why hand the ball off two yards behind the line when you have a 6' 4" QB who can fall forward for a yard or two.

Once teams start cheating up the middle on 3rd and 4th and short, then it opens up the running game for an outside run for an even bigger gain.

Stanzi's a big boy now, 230 lbs is decently tough to stop when you need a few inches. Two years ago, he was a twig.

I say who cares how you get a yard or two. Whatever works to move the chains do that. If it is a QB sneak fine.

I agree. It shows A LOT of faith in the OL. Furthermore, when the QB isn't being dumb and is taking proper care of the football, it's an exceptionally safe call.
