OL - Next Year

Still a lot of chatter that Bryan is gone. He played decent last night, all of our big runs were to his side. But at the end of the day, losing him will hurt but wont be detremental...that said, I'd love to have him back because he has mad potential!

He could have been called for holding more than once, but he played well overall last night. On Wegher's touchdown, did Calloway pull around, or was lined up at left tackle? If that was the case, where was Bryan?

The OL kind of actually worries me for next year. I know a lot of these guys have potential, but there are 2 or 3 guys with starting starting experience? I think before this year, the stat was brought up about teams with a high number of returning total starts in the OL has usually done pretty well, while teams losing a lot of starts have not done so hot. When I think about this, I kind of get the idea of a Penn St team from this year. Good returning defense, returning qb and rbs, we return WRs so that is a plus. But with all the talk about possible NC run next year, hopefully you guys can shed some light for me on this OL thought.

Possibly. If Bulaga is back, then Reiff is the RT. Other names/possibilities would be Koeppel (center) and Zusevics (spelling).

Throw Orne into the mix as well. He has good size and played LT at South Dakota State? I think that's the right college. He could play RT or one of the G spots.

It seems like in the fall there was word MacMillan was close to forcing his way onto the field, so assuming he's been healthy and practicing you'd have to feel pretty good about him.

I think I saw a quote yesterday from Stanzi saying he would talk with Bulaga and Spivey once they get back to Iowa City. Hopefully he can convince them to come back for a run at the NC or Rose Bowl.

It will probably be a bit sketchy at first, but that is what games against Eastern Illinois and ISU are for. If there are any injuries, things could get dicey. This year, Iowa was able to overcome the early season injuries with depth and experience, but a lot of that depth and experience will be starting next year, and I'm not sure how far along the guys behind them are.
