OK, Who Can Tell Me Anything About Eastern Illinois...

That I don't already know. Finding stuff on them is pretty hard.

Here's what I know:

Went to the FCS playoffs last year and lost.

Starting a new QB who was a JUCO transfer

Penn State crushed them in their only game against a BCS team

3 players were kicked off the team earlier this month but only one of them was a possible starter

Their starting RB is out with an injury

Jake Christiansen and Kyle Schlicher played for them last year

Their coach's last name is Spoo and that's hilarious

Tony Romo went there.

Side note, one of my wife's best friend went there but cares less about football than my wife (that's saying something) and, therefore, was no help.

That pretty much sums up my knowledge of them. No message boards that I can find. Not a whole lot of coverage to be honest.

EIU is currently ranked 18th in the first FCS polls, 4 spots behind last years opener, UNI. They are switching to a pistol style offense which bob spoo has stated has been slow to get going. EIU's Starting RB is out of this game with a knee injury.

I think the pistol CAN be a very difficult offense to stop. But not if you don't have the right athletes and not if it's "slow to get going". On a related note, Bob Spoo? Really? The first few times I saw his name I thought there MUST be a letter that was left off or something. Bob Spoon maybe or Bob Spool. But Spoo? That's not a name.

Eastern Illinois...

It shares a border with Indiana.

It pretty much looks like Iowa.

It's closer to places like Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Detroit, and Cleveland than Iowa is.

Signor transfered to Eastern. Schlicher stayed at Iowa. I said Schlicher originally for some reason. Not sure who you're thinking of at ISU.
