Any news or scuttlebutt, about who we are still after? Really getting jazzed up for hoops, ready for Fran to hit a homerun(or at least an extra base hit).

Off the top of my head, we have offers to Tyler Harris, Eric Katenda, Trey MacDonald. Anyone I'm missing?

Dead. Looks like we will have to hope our freshmen this year can play well enough to attract some Spring signees.

I think a lot of the recruits Iowa is targeting are in a wait and see mode....they want to see what the new style will look like.

Fran is fighting the perception and reality that is Iowa basketball right now...I have not doubt that he will be able to turn the program around.

I like the fact that Fran and staff are not in a panic mode and signing kids that cant compete in the Big Ten. Fran is a solid and experienced coach, he has assembled a terrific staff, unfortunately they are not bringing in the talent as fast as everyone was hoping.

The Hawks need some breaks:

1. New practice facility will help.
2. A fun style of bb to watch and to play should attract better athletes.
3. A big if, better atmosphere in carver? can't recruit unless the fans come out and support! a big if?
4. Somehow Fran pulls a miracle and gets his team to finish 16-14 and a NIT bid.
5. Fans have to stay patient and positive, Fran has inherited a mess and needs some time to turn it around.

Sorry 16-14 won't get you into the NIT.....teams need upwards of 18-19 wins to get in now.

They need another big in the class of 2011.

Tyler Harris--while he may be a long shot would be a welcome addition to the class. Hopefully they can get one more guy in the fold before the early signing period so they can have 1 or 2 scholarships to offer to someone in the spring. Find a late bloomer who has seen the style of play and direction the program is heading.

I was watching ESPNU last nite and they had a college bb preview that went over every conference. Digger tabbed St Johns as a sleeper NCAA tourny pick, despite only winning 5 conference games last year, because of his faith in Lavin. He also picked ND to challenge for the tourny. Lavin is going to be getting the royal treatment from his former colleagues at ESPN all season. I hope Tyler Harris does not swoon over the hype.

I think once Iowa starts getting some wins to start the season more people will be following the team, since ticket prices are somewhat low and they have a lot of different "themed" nights

Schedule breakdown:
NonConf:

South Dakota St - W
Louisiana-Monroe -W
Paradise Jam - probably lookin at 3-4 loses
SIU-Edwardsville - W

i also think some kids are going to wait and see what/how Fran coaches. looks like a good chance we only have to early signee's.
