Ok...Take a Minute...

Time to step back from the ledge just a smidge...

I think we're all suffering from a little of the cabin fever that is spring and summer, and we're all ready for some Hawkeye football.

I know I'm almost universally disliked here aside from a few posters. @HawkGold , @InGoodCo , @ChosenChildren , @guffus , @HuckFinn , @judzeehawk , @4thngoal and myriad more I have to give credit for tossing poop at me...I consider you guys brothers in arms whether you hate me or not. I love you dorks and you're stuck with that. Sorry.

But...putting the internetski differences aside I think there's probably one thing we can all get behind and unify ourselves with, eh?

Can we not all join hands and agree that those sons of bitches to the west of us have finally reaped what they've sown and can get proverbially bent? Can we not come together and give that fake news, dumpster fire of a team our evaluation of "where they are as a program?" How 'bout a capital F to frosty and the kids over in Lincoln? They'll more than likely beat us sometime in the next few years, just like any other matchup in the world. But at the end of the day I'd say they can ask Noah, or Drew, or Nathan what makes a Hawk a Hawk and why they'd rather play in Iowa City than that steamy landfill in Lincoln.

For a little perspective, I'll just leave you guys with some pictures of Mr. Bazata "Throwing the Bones" in Memorial Stadium like any good, red blooded nebraskan should, followed up with Frosty's 2nd grade school picture. Looking back, I can see that he was born to be a husker. Fate is the only explanation I can think of.

It's posts like these that have me convinced there needs to be a "love" button, because damnit, "like" just isn't enough!

Our last Saturday without college football for a while. Looks like small projects around the house and yard for me (sharpening lawn mower blades, tightening clotheslines, new shelves in my "man cave" which really isnt much of one, trimming my widowed neighbor's weeds) Last weekend was perfect, warm and humid, for river time and some small river tubin before daughters and nieces and nephews started fall semesters. What exciting plans do any of you have before Saturdays get busy with the college football roller coaster

Over the last decade, I have slowly been warming to the idea that Nebraska may be one of Iowa's rivals, but overall I am still kind of

Meh

Overall I would still rank Neb behind Wisc, Minn, Iowa St, ILL, NW as rivals. And I still hate the fact that I now consider NW a rival.

As for Neb, it's just hard to care about a program Iowa has beat 4 out of the last 5, with the last 2 being complete blowouts.

Wyoming plays New Mexico St. tonight at 9 pm on ESPN2. Guess what I will be watching.

Soooooooooooo happy college football season is upon us.

And I would love to see another blow out of the Fuskers.

Meh you're all good. I know it's time for football when I get lured into a political, religious or ethical conversation. I usually don't walk, but run from those.
Sorry if I couldn't restrain or otherwise gave the impression of distaste, (I don't have distaste for the opinion, just the subject) I think everyone has an opinion and rightfully so. That's the great thing about our society. I apologize if I came off harsh or offended.
I'm not mad bro, hope you are not either.
Go Hawks!!
Oh and the cornholers can bite me. They suck and their football board even sucks now. Thanks Rob and Jon for not being such Nazis, to know most of us are just funning and in the end we are all Hawkeye brothers.

Nebraska has been Iowa's punching bag for the last five years. I can't say how long that will continue, but as long as Nebraska is weak in the trenches they are probably going to have trouble with Iowa. I'm not sold on Scott Frosts high power offense. Other teams have tried that in the Big Ten and it hasn't gone so well. Will Frosty really do any better than Brady Hoke or Rich Rodriguez did at Michigan. Incidentally Iowa has pretty much owned Michigan since Lloyd Carr left in 2007 (5-1). Iowa's defense used to have trouble with spread offenses, but that was a long time ago. Now I wonder if Iowa's D actually has more trouble with the better pro style offenses with physical linemen. In any case if Nebraska can't find a quarterback to run its system it will be a long year, with Iowa at the end to punctuate.
