Ohio State Offensive Game Plan

I certainly hope we come out conservative and try to establish the run in the first four or five drives next week. I wouldn't want to risk an interception and jeopardize our projected bowl picture.

This game today just doesn't make sense. We have come out throwing when defenses stacked up the box in previous games...why not today? Is it just arrogance that we want to show them we can run despite them game planning to stop us. Is it because we saw what Penn State did to them last week and we were convinced we could do the same?

Why do I have this feeling we are always playing not to lose or turn the ball over? We should be aggressive when we have single coverage and it doesn't just have to be a bomb...deep outs work too.

I'm just confused that KOK does this for a living and that's how we start the game...0-7 on third down? Everyone focuses on what happened at the end of the game...our defense was on the field a ton in the first half because our offense sucked so bad. That is where the game was lost IMO.

Oh its just a lack of execution is all...and I call BULLSH#% on all those who say this. We are way to vanilla and predictable and conservative. We have and NFL tight end in Reisner, NFL wide receiver in DJK and a stud 6ft4" wide Rec in McNutt, yet we only score 18 and 17 in back to back games against Indiana and NW??!! OUr offensive philosophy needs to change.... and our defensive philosophy HAS to change against NW, for the love of all that is holy! HOW many more freakin years do we have to lose to freakin Northwestern before KF and KOK make the adjustments?????

Iowa should come out against OSU and play NW/Oregon ball. Go no huddle. Throw the 5-7-yard routes and march down the field. Then when the D loosens, slip the ball to ARob who'll find gaping holes to dance through. And then go long... Force OSU to play D without subbing, without time to breathe. Let them know this isn't the same old Iowa team. Yah, the Hawkeyes can still punch you in the mouth, but they just might sucker-punch ya, too...

But back to reality... What Iowa will do is run ARob off tackle a couple times for 3 yards, throw an incompletion on 3rd and long and roll the dice on a suddenly unpredictable Ryan Donahue punt... And OSU nods knowingly. "Yep, same old Iowa..." :)

And here's an interesting post from a Midwest website prior to the NW game:

"Prediction:

Iowa 37, NU 17

The Hawkeyes have to reverse the mini-curse at some point right? Last year, the Cats ruined what seemed like a very special season in Iowa City. You know Stanzi and company are going to have a bone to pick with that. They’ll also be playing loose as their potentially very special season as already been ruined- twice.
However, I’m not just picking the Hawkeyes out of revenge factor. Northwestern’s defense has looked absolutely dreadful in the second halves of conference games. And the problem’s been compounded by the same issue they had when they were 5-0: inability to control clock with a lead and step on their opponents’ throats.
Yes, their running game has improved lately, but not enough to compensate for the regression of the defense. If the inability to deliver the knockout punch doomed them versus Purdue and Penn State, what could happen versus Iowa?

And some people wonder WHY Hawkeye fans are so upset about losing to another inferior NW team...
