Does anyone know how his shooting was last year in the PTL? Or even the year before is Fr. year? Just curious if he had struggles then or not.

JO shot 46% from 3 during the 2012 PTL. He shot 37% from 3 during his frosh year at Iowa. But that didn't help when he started to get more attention from better teams during his soph year. Think he has a slow shot and hasn't been able to adjust.

Good info thanks.

Wasn't just his soph year, he shot under 30% in the B10 as a freshman too.

Are you referring to the player who made 6/7 threes at Indiana his freshman year.....

Must be some talent there. Unfortunately he has turned into the Maylike Hawkeye to kick around......

Other teams are scared of him. They know one 3 could turn into five threes real quick if they dont stay on him. I think he will have a good year. I think the competition is going to up his game.

I expect a better year. Less expectations and less pressure with other shooters on the team.

He could do better this year with other shooters to take the pressure off. I expect Gesell to be better as a soph and Marble to turn it on as a senior and Uthoff, Jok, and Clemmons to provide even more diversion for perimeter defenders. But, as is pointed out in this thread, JO hasn't shot well 'generally' vs good competition his whole Iowa career. Marble has shot better from 3 and he's not a guy you would call a natural shooter. I do think JO will have a May-like career and become a reliable senior- just maybe not a 40% 3pt shooter.

I can see him having a May type senior year, but I expect his to bust out this year. The opponents will not be able to concentrate on him like before, like what Gatens went through his junior year. Jok and Uthoff will take a lot of the pressure off Josh.....

I'm scared of him when he comes in the game...scared he will shoot 0-8.
I really hope he figures it out, and if he doesn't, I hope Fran keeps him off the floor.

I would say he didnt hurt Iowa last year being on the floor with the attention he gets however this year he is going to need to make a lot more threes to be on the court with the talent Iowa has.

I would agree for the most part, but there were his brutal shooting hurt. More than anything, Iowa needs a consistent long range shooter. I really hope he or Jok can fill that role.
