It's called hedging your bet.
I do it all the time. I take every Iowa loss hard. If I happen to win a couple hundred bucks when they lose , it softens the blow. It doesn't mean one is a traitor. (see how traitor is spelled?)
I would gladly sacrifice a couple hundred to see Iowa beat OSU.
I do it every year when Iowa plays ISU.
Iowa is ALWAYS over valued in that game. I have made hundreds of dollars betting against Iowa in the ISU game. (and I want Iowa to beat ISU every time they play, worse than you can imagine)

My prediction is that Iowa loses the game on Saturday, but sometime in 2015 or so the result is vacated, so in the end, we don't really lose.
