B1G Title Game vs OSU- W (why not?)
I think I've already posted about this in another thread but since this is ***official****
I'll do it again.

12-0. I'm an optimist like Cam here...

Or an idiot...depending on who you're talking to.

9-3. 1 out of conf loss, always seems to happen, split the Nebby/wisc games and throw in 1 more loss.

Its so hard to pick who I think iowa will lose to. I really feel theyll be fine at Pitt, and I think we should see how Maryland's season goes leading up to that game before we mark it as a loss. Minnesota worries me, but I can also see a similar game as last year.

Iowa SHOULD go 10-0 entering the wisky game, but a lot of luck goes into an undefeated season, and question is, does iowa have luck?

I predict that the West will be decided in Kinnick in the final two weeks. I think iowa can lose 2 conference games and still win the west.

So I will go on the record and predict 9-3 to be safe.

12-0 is a possibility but not likely. 9-3 is the bottom with the schedule we have. Just because we punt on the opponents thirty yard line I will guess two losses due to brain farts by the coaching staff. 10-2

The team as it is currently configured has a big question mark on defense in the short passing game. If Bower and Mabin don't end up being a combination of Shada and Donatell when each was giving up massive cushions, the team should be fine. From what we are hearing, they should be good.

That being said, this team also stacks up like 2010 when they were on track for a great season except for depth in the two places they ended up needing it most OL and LB. If those units could have stayed healthy in 2010 we wouldn't be talking about that season as a dissapointment. If they can stay healthy this season it will be the same. If not...

So my prediction is going to be wishy washy. 7-5 with significant injuries on the line and LB. 12-0 without.

Who says Bower and Jewell are going to start anyway? There may be a slash on the depth chart but their names are second.

I have watched enough Iowa football and read between the lines of enough press releases to know what these depth charts mean.

1. Perry is a hard, working, good citizen who will be valuable depth, but Bower is the future and the future is about right now.

2. Jewell is too good to keep off the field and Spearman's personal issues are affecting his play.

That being said, unless there is something really clear, Iowa will lean toward the more experienced player in the first game/s of the season.

Now, the Jewell/Spearman issue is really interesting. Of the two, Spearman seems the most suited for a position change, but with his head on straight, he might just be the better player. Really want to see a way to keep both on the field.

some times you just wonder.
