Off topic thoughts on Michigan.....

I've seen it mentioned on here before but it's worth repeating. In my opinion the Michigan vs Illinois game will go a long way in deciding whether RR is kept for another season. A home loss to Illinois at this point in the season would be the death blow for RR. Right now odds makers have Michigan by 3. Frankly, I think Illinois is a good bet to win outright. Thoughts?

RichRod had two weeks to prepare for Penn State. Couldn't get it done. I thought he had to win that one to retain his job. Robinson will not last the year as DC. I'm somewhat surprised he's still there. Look for Les Miles not to pass up a chance to coach his alma mater a second time. He must be getting tired of the LSU fans by now. And the feeling is probably reciprocal.

I believe they already have the wheels in motion to run RR out of town. This weekend will just further cement his fate. They will lose to the Illini.

I've watched Illinois a few times this year. I'm actually glad Iowa misses them! They will beat Michigan for sure.

My only thought on Rodriguez is that he gets his team ready and they beat Wisconsin. That might save his job. If they can him, they've got at least a couple of more years of struggle - unless they bring in another coach who runs the same type of offense, which I don't think they'll do. There's probably a bunch of old line Michigan alums who can't wait to scrap this style. If they fire him, I think they'll bring in a coach prepared to run a more traditional Michigan style team - big, drop back passer, behemoths up front, etc. Right now, they're not built for that - that's why Mallett left - so it would take a couple of years to bring those guys in.

At a minimum, Greg Robinson will be updating his resume.

I think that RR is done regardless of what happens the rest of the season. Time has proven that his offensive philosophy does not work in the big ten where teams actually play good defense, he looked like a magician at WV but look at who he was playing against. Time has also shown that he has no idea of how to coach or develop a defense nor the ability to recognize someone that can and hire them. Michigan would be crazy CRAZY to keep him around any longer. Plus you know it is only going to be a matter of time before they get into some sort of huge scandal or some big NCAA violations. Michigan will cut ties with RR and then thank God that things aren't any worse than they are.

I think that this is a good leason for all the Hawk fans out there because if Michigan of all schools can have their program tank after a so so hire then think about what could happen to Iowa if Ferentz decided to leave and GarBar makes a poor hire, as he has done before? We are fortunate to have the coaches we have, very fortunate.

I'm pretty sure LSU fans were tired of Les Miles when Florida took the lead. The fake FG near-debacle didn't help. Losing to Auburn merely solidified it.

Not sure UM and Les Miles are such a good fit, though...

I would expect Illinois to beat Michigan. Another disapointing day for Rich Rod. I would love for them to beat Wisconsin, but for that to happen, Wisconsin has to beat themselves. And beat themselves bad. Don't see that happening.

"Scheelhause will be the best player in the Big Ten by his senior year. That kid is good!" Probably won't take that long.

I have to say I was shocked by Penn State beating Michigan. The loss made me lose hope for Michigan to beat Wisconsin.

The matchup between Michigan and Illinois will be an interesting one this week but you have to like Illinois as their defense is much better than Michigans. Of course the opposing team is never out of it when you have a field general like the Zook...

I think a lot of that depends on how long Petrino sticks around at Illinois. Zook has proven that he can't develop players, he saved his job by hiring competent coordinators on both sides of the ball.

I still say 3 years from now James White will be the best player in the Big Ten.

I think Ram Rod is in trouble. I don't see Michigan beating a very sound Illinois team. Six wins or less will spell the end for this chapter of Michigan football. A buddy of mine from Ann Arbor was in town last week and said the majority of fans want him gone, and they want him gone now. Not a huge surprise, but he was very passionate about getting rid of him.

Michigan is the apocalypse.

scUM's handling of Lloyd Carr correleates to how Iowa handled the Tom Davis situation.

Not satisfied to be respected and very very good, both programs got greedy and treated their coaches with very little dignity, somehow hoping for the magic bullet to put them forever in the 'elite' category.

scUM FB is paying the price 3 years after, and will probably for the next 2-3 years, if not longer.

Iowa BB is still paying the price 10 years after.

They need a Carr with Les Miles.
