Observations: Hawkeyes Blow Out Maryland

I was 50/50 on Iowa winning this game. That was the same Maryland team that smoked Illinois by 16 at home. But when JB is knocking down 3’s Iowa is capable of beating anybody. They are going to need that for the Michigan games.
 
Good road win very impressive for the Hawks. Maryland has issues. They looked like they quit on Danny. I've never seen a guy fire up an air ball and our guy is surrounded by 3 Maryland defenders the only one to move, catch it, and then proceed to dunk it.
 
Fwiw, Maryland beat IL and MSU at home in the last month. They have problems obviously as their record indicates, but they’re definitely capable of playing well. Iowa went in and dismantled them
 
Had a little something different in the second half against Minny. Now this. Very odd. Might they be on to something? Three halves in a row with consistant ball and getting and holding the lead. No scary moments down the stretch. They took control and never gave it back with no real momentum swings. Three straight halves of this including 2 on the road is nice to see.

Some talk about rebuilding or they are only so good this year. This team has been a little disappointing(should really be 18-5) but they have players and some depth and are good enough to get further than last year. Keegan has more than filled the Garza slot but exceeded in the ability as he is more athletic and can blocks shots and move without the ball better. Kris filling the Keegan slot at about last years level with some spurts here and there. Sandfort starts to knock them down and the trio(Ulis, JT, and Perkins) have it start to come together for a couple of them this team should have more aspirations than rebuilding. No reason not to get that sweet sixteen.

Just stay healthy, continue to progress, find the steady direction as of late. Too bad Ogundele is not further along. Yes, he would be in foul trouble probably and be learning lessons from the Big ten big men but isn't that what he was supposed to be doing about now. Have to wait till he is a junior for any real contribution?

Yeah I'd seen some trying to say MD sucks but far from it. They aren't great but they aren't the worst team we've played this year. Not even close. As much as it woulda sucked if we'd have lost there it wouldn't have been the most surprising thing ever if it did. We just lost at PSU for crying out loud. You gotta earn wins in this league and especially on the road and that's what we did.

They damn near knocked off Purdue at their place and probably shoulda. Basketball is a funny game to figure out sometimes.
