Word that KOK had expressed interest in the Hoosier opening was intriguing on so many levels. These are just some of the questions that raced through my mind:
1) Did KF and KOK have a falling out at some point during the season?
2) Does KOK feel his skills as an offensive coordinator are being stifled by KF's conservative approach to both sides of the game and is ready to take on a new challenge?
3) Is KF planning to make major changes in the coordinator positions at the end of the year and informed NP he should retire and KOK he should start looking for something else?
4) Is KF seeing that he really hasn't planted much of a coaching "tree" as his mentor Hayden Fry did and is now just starting to try to move staff up and out?
5) At age 57 and after 12 years at Iowa, does KOK feel that if he is ever going to return as a HC, he needs to do it now? Seems a tad late, quite honestly, but stranger things have happened.
6) Is KF himself exploring a move, possibly back to the NFL, and his staff is simply reacting by exploring their own options?
Life could become interesting in the next month or so.

Think about it for a second, how many times in the last 12 years have you heard that KOK was a candidate for a head coaching opening? Zero, doesn't that strike you as odd that all of a sudden after 12 years KOK decides he wants to be a head coach now if something wasn't going on?

Its not that it couldnt be true. It is that we dont know other than someone saying, "Hey did you guys hear that". It not as big of a deal as starting a rumor that would ruin someones career at Iowa. But NO need to start stuff on here that gets everyone to spout out what they think happened and have half the people on here thinking its fact. Also there has been talk of KOK being a HC somewhere else before(but this doesnt matter).

Nobody's career would get ruined from this rumor. It isn't that big as coaches disagree all the time.
Where has there been talk of KOK being a HC before, or it doesn't matter because it never happened and you can't show me where there was talk of him being a HC.

You are right about the KOK HC thing. I went back to the thread that I was thinking about that Jon had started and thought I had remembered that it said in there that there was talk in 2006-07 but I was wrong. It was just how fans wanted him gone(but it didnt say anything about him going to be a HC). I have the memory of a goldfish.

so it's not ok to ask about the validity of a rumor, but to make a false "KOK coaching candidate" statement is ok?

Yes I was wrong. But I think the difference in a dispute at halftime and if a coach has had previous HC offers is a little different. You are right I should have went and posted that link instead of shooting off the top of my head with my memory. Mixing up facts from a article that Jon wrote and asking about rumors is different.
