KIRK: Good to get back again. Like most coaches and players, we are eager to get started. Practices have gone long and its good to get back on the field and learn where we are all at. We have had a pretty productive camp in terms of injuries...fairly healthy, that is a positive.

Q: Remember Bob Spoo from his Purdue days?

A" Very well. We were both in the Big Ten as assistants in the 80's. One specific memory I have they came in here and we had a pretty aggressive defense. I was watching their offense and they ran about 10 play action passes out of the first 12 plays and they went right down the field. It went from our left to the right pretty quickly. They had a good plan for us. He is a great caoch

Q: Josh Koeppel status?

A: We will wait and see. We are not going to take any crazy chances. It was unfortunate what happened. He is fortunate it wasn't more extensive. He has some scrapes and bruises and soreness. He is walking around, I saw him walk yesterday and today in the building.

Q: Adrian presence help entire D

A: he has played well for a few years now. Strong team leader. That has grown. Great job on field and also off the field. We have three seniors on the line and that is good leadership up front.

Q: Prater status

A: We will know more as the week goes on.

Q: How feel about CB?

A: We lost three excellent players on defense. ALl are in NFL camps The corners have competed well and we are optimistic. We are not the most experienced group out there.

Q: Comment on what you see from Eastern and mentality of your players vs FCS

A: They have done a great job, a long tenure there with both coordinators and HC. Established, playoff contender excellent team last year. We look at the film..first games you never know personality with new players and they have five new on each side and critical areas. We are trying to speculate like they are with us. Very impressed. As far as FCS, just look at our opener last year. Dont have to say much more

Q: Would you like to play a preseason game not against record, a scrimmage to break up monotony

A: Fine with me. Not realistic or what issues that would raise regarding spring practice. Conceptually it has merit, I have not thought about it a lot.

END OF TELECONFERENCE

The 12:30 presser will be more meaty...sounds like Kirk is not going to be too forthcoming on injuries and the like for the first game...that has been the way it is going around the nation this week.

No gettis comments or questions..I was in listen only today as I couldnt locate the password...and no one else asked it..he was very short on the other two injury related questions.

What is your opinion on if Tarp, Gettis or Prater will play?

I wouldn't be surprised to see all 3 sit and have them ready to go for ISU.
