Coming off our most successful season in ages, and with the opening of our new facilities this year, it is no surprise that recruiting has been going very well so far. Granted, over half the class so far is from in-state and grew up hawk fans, momentum is on our side to close the class as one of our best in 18 years under Kirk.
However, with the satellite camp ban lifted, I just read that one of our conference rivals, Michigan, is starting their Summer Swarm Part Two in conjunction with Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Baylor, and Georgia, by heading to the following:
Satellite camp dates
June 2nd Maynard Jackson High, Atlanta, Ga. (with Georgia)
June 4th USF campus, Tampa, Fla.
June 5th ODU campus, Norfolk, Va.
June 6th Bob Jones High, Madison, Alabama
June 7th Prattville High, Ala.
June 7th South Alabama campus, Mobile, Ala.
June 8th Pearl High, Miss. (with UM, MSU)
June 9-10th SMSB, Detroit
June 12th Baylor campus, Waco, Texas
June 13th Greenhill High, Addison, Texas
Maybe Kirk doesn't have the energy that Harbaugh has, which is fair, but there's a reason he's paying several guys in their 30s huge salaries beyond what most doctors make (including his son), and it's to get out there and recruit. Which satellite camps will we be holding? Now that we have picked the state of Iowa clean, how many frequent flier miles is this staff going to accumulate to reload next year? A top 25 recruiting class would be huge this year and would help insure that Kirk retires a winner.
