Not so good David Kenny news

From @PatHarty on twitter:

"Iowa 4-star defensive end recruit David Kenney tells ESPN that he is still considering Indiana, where his dad is on the staff."

"When asked if he might end up at Indiana Kenney said: "I don't know. I like IU a lot, but I'm not sure yet. I've still got like 5 months."
---------

THAT's not a good sign. In Kirkspeak, this would not be considered a marriage if you are out holding hands with another girl. Or perhaps this is a unique situation given his dad's taking a job with the Indiana staff after Kenny had verbally committed to Iowa.

Marc Morehouse just tweeted that David and John Kenny (no relation, both Iowa commits) visited the Indiana v Ball State game together on Sept 15th. Again, circumstances here are a little different. Harty tweeted Kenny is supposed to officially visit Iowa this coming weekend.

LOL! Indiana football? No fan support at that school for football. He can play in front of 75,000 fans even in bad seasons or play in front of 10s of fans in bad or good seasons at Indiana. Plus, I doubt his father and father's boss will be employed at Indiana by the time his career is finished.

But I suppose the negative pub Iowa football has been receiving is a turn off for some recruits.

Well, at Iowa there's playing time and the NFL. At Indy there's dad and playing time. We'll see.

And so it begins... one should not expect the season that we are having to not have negative impact in recruiting, nor should one expect that opposing coaches are putting thoughts in 17 year olds heads about Kirks future, no matter how untrue or unrealistic they may be.

^ that's sorta ghey, brah ^

Well that sucks. Looks like we need to score more points than Indiana.

It has to be a pretty strong pull to play with the team your dad coaches. His head knows he should come to Iowa but his heart says it would be really cool playing where your dad coaches. I can't say I'm surprised by this at all. In the end I'll bet he stays at Iowa.

Bingo. And I'll go this extra step. We'll see Ferentz (or some of his lackeys) lay the blame on the negativity of complaining fans. Mark it down.

I have a feeling he is staying and just wants the attention. He is retweeting everything that comes his way tonight...

Totally agree with this. The amount of fans tweeting at him is disturbing, as is his retweeting. No way can the NCAA ever put a lid on this stuff.

I'll take that bet. Some faction of the fanbase complains every year...some years it's more, some years less...and I've never heard any of the staff claim the complaints had a negative impact on recruiting.

Is this your first rodeo? This sort of stuff pops up every couple of years. I don't recall reading anyone saying that message board negativity affected recruiting.

Winning and losing? Yeah, that can have an effect.
