Northwestern doesn't play OSU or Mich.

They still have 4 ranked teams on that schedule, 2 of them on the road. They will have to earn a Big Ten title, OSU or no OSU.

It didn't work out so well for us back in '05 and '06 the years we didn't play OSU or Michigan either.. It's more than a 2-team league.

I think it's funny that Michigan is used as a barometer for NW's track to the B10 title. Maybe the writer forgot that Michigan was, what, 8-16 the last two full seasons?

Don't sleep on NW, boys.

The are extremely well-schooled & - above all - have a QB playing at an exceptionally high level. OSU is always a terrible matchup for them, but Iowa is a perfect one.

They ARE a contender.

NW has the best schedule in the league,by far, of the contenders.
No Michigan or OSU, Iowa at home, minny,IU on the road. Only reasonably tough road games are PSU and at Wisconsin, right? They could go 6-2 with that schedule...and 10-2 overall. I hope Minny jumps up and shocks them this weekend, but I doubt it.

We played both in 2006. OSU at home that year is one of the most talked about night games in the history of Kinnick Stadium. I went to this game and the one at the Big House (that was the last time we were there).

We did not play either in 2007-08. And you are right, it did not work out well those two years. 2007 may be the most disappointing year of the KF era thanks to #6...

I like Persa, but Fitz has some question marks like the rest of the teams. I see them getting to the Outback or Cap 1 with 3 losses. As for Robinson University, they'll always be a benchmark in this league even if they are 0-87, because they have the name, they have the alumni, and they have the winningest program in the history of college football. Not saying its 'right,' but then again, whoever believes that the NCAA isn't political is plain naive and ignorant, be it policies, decisions, pollsters, or analysts.

can't find it right now, but in an earlier thread about whether we can still compete for the NC, I said that there is a chance that we could play two undefeated teams in a row at the end of the year (NW on 11/13 and OSU on 11/20) ... I don't think NW will be 9-0, but I do think they could be ... if we give them their first L, that would be sweet payback AND it would gives us tremendous momentum going in to the OSU game, both on the field and in the polls

They could very well be. All they have before Iowa (of any threat) is MSU and PSU. Both very winnable.

Thanks for the correction. You're right - it was '07 and '08.

2007 was a year that I don't care to remember. That game against Western Michigan in particular. With a bowl game on the line, at home on senior day, and to lay an egg against a MAC team... Very uncharacteristic of a KF coached team. Still can't believe we lost that game the way we did, really.

2006 - Lots of hype coming into that season with a high ranking, ended up 2-6 in the Big Ten.

Looks like those two years were a valley for us. It's good to be back.

NW is a team on the rise that's being seriously overlooked by the national media. They'll need some luck but they could win the conference this year. Problem is, they're not BCS ready and will get spanked in the Rose Bowl by either Stanford or Oregon. I don't want to hear again how the Big Ten just isn't as good as we thought blah blah blah.

I hope they are 9-0 when Iowa comes to town.It would be great to turn the table on these guys .I'm going to be at that game it was the only game I got to go to last year and the only one I'll go to this year,so it would be nice to return the favor this year.We we're 9-0 untill the Northwestern game last year and now it's time for pay back. But I think they'll get beat before that, maybe this weekend in Minny.
