northern iowa vs st. marys on one am tonight

Flipped it on and they were just cutting to this game from the Zaga game. St Marys up 7-0 out of the box. Then UNI scores 9 straight to go up 9-7. Now has settled in to a tight contest that UNI has going at their pace. St Marys wants to score in the 80's, UNI in the 50's,so this is a good preview for Iowa vs UNI.

So far, I am impressed with UNI's guards. James, Moran,Dixon, are all tough.
Koch has not done much so far. They have another guard off the bench from St Paul who looks good. I think they have the better guards than Iowa, but Iowa might do some damage down low....or not. I think they will be very tough for Iowa to beat in their gym.

Game of runs. St Marys opens 7-0, then UNI scores 9 straight, now St Marys outscores them 19 -2. James is ice cold...1 of 10 from the field, and if UNI shoots like this vs Iowa, Hawks have a chance.

I had no idea this game was even on but it doesn't look like i missed much as they lost by 16 and only scored 41 points. Is Lick coaching this team?

In games where teams like UNI likes to score in the 50s, it usually means the opposing team has to play very good defense. If UNI can score fairly regularly after taking time off the clock, they will be in the game until the end and may frustrate the heck out of some of our players.

If Iowa can play very good defense and not foul UNI starts taking tougher shots, which means they will not make as high a percentage. Iowa then has to rebound and get the tempo going. If they can get up on UNI, UNI then has to continue to play their slow game until they realize that they have to pick up the tempo somewhat. At that point they begin playing Iowa's game.

I'd be pretty happy if we finished 2-2 vs Creighton, UNI, Iowa State, Clemson (our tough non-con games.)

Possible, but really doubt Iowa wins...

Its going to be a low scoring, half-court game but yes we beat them this year by double digits...easily.

by double digits at UNI. Short of Iowa shooting 55% from 3-point land.

Scoring points against the Panthers will be nothing like the first two teams Iowa played. Chicago St. is just plain bad and NC A&T took gambles everywhere on defense, which resulted in some turnovers but lots of open shots for Iowa. UNI will play position defense and make Iowa earn what it gets. The UNI guards are smallish but they will give Iowa fits with quickness.

UNI missed a ton of open looks in this game. it was very odd. James was a great midrange shooter last year and he was 1-15 last night. Moran was 5-15 with most of those coming in garbage time. UNI would miss a bunny and SMC would come down and drill a three.

UNI has 5 quality guards in Moran,James,Rank,Sonnen, and Mitchell.
If they shoot up to normal, they could shoot Iowa right outta the gym.
Our backcourt is going to struggle to keep up.
I do not like Iowa's chances. UNI had everything against them last nite, playing in Va. on Saturday and then going to the west coast to start at 2:00 am Eastern time?
Their bodies had to rebel.
