Reminds me of MSU scheduling. May lose to the blue blood but a great experience and confidence builder for the team.

There is nothing negative about scheduling these teams. The players get jacked up for them, they sell out in a normal year, they help recruiting, they buff your postseason resume,.help your metrics win or lose, and most of all they prepare your team for conference play and those tough road games.
I have never seen a power conference team miss the dance because they overscheduled. The committee respects tough non con shedules. These games simply toughen you up more than any sub 300 RPI ever could. How do you think Sparty and Bucky do so well in conference play every year?

I know the game is at Carver, but I wonder how many non ACC teams have gone into the Dean Dome and won twice?

My opinion in football, basketball, and any other sport for that matter is if you want to compete for conference titles the Non-conference schedule is the place to do it. Sure there's times (like in football) where OOC losses can basically eliminate you from being a championship contender, but if you can't beat the teams winning their conferences or contending year in and year out for national championships, what makes you think that you have a team, or support a program, that can legitimately compete for one.
