Iowa will pay a record price for La-Monroe this year to visit Kinnick.

Getting rid of that non-conference game and moving to a 9 game Big Ten schedule may actually be a break even scenario over the course of 2, 4, 6, etc years.

Half of the money from ticket sales ($1.05 Million) will go to La-Monroe. The Big Ten game should bring in $2.5+ Million range.

I really wish the B1G would go to a 9 game conference slate. Opponents of the idea claim it would be the death of the home and home big time OOC matchups. I disagree. When the college football schedule was 11 games we had 3 non conference games and 8 conference games, and there were still plenty of high profile OOC matchups. I don't see why that couldn't be the case now with a 12 game schedule and a 9 game conference slate. That still leaves 3 OOC games, 2 of which would probably be cupcakes, but still the opportunity for the on big OOC game. Besides I think most Iowa fans want Wisky back on our schedule every year, and I'm reasonably sure that Badger fans feel the same way.

But in a 9 game conference sched, you are basically adding a game to that 11 game slate and making it against a power conference team (in this case, a team from the Big Ten).

It would be unwise for Iowa to schedule anything other than two weak sisters and Iowa State in OOC if they went to nine games. If Iowa didn't have the ISU game each year and they chose to schedule one game against another BCS conference school from another league, people would be fine with it.

I think this would be the next to fall if they moved to 9 games.

5,4,3,2,1..........Just counting down to the point where this thread turns into "Is ISU worth having on the schedule" debate.:)
