Non Conference Schedule

I've never liked the way KF backs off opponents, get's a lead, and plays the I can "out Vanilla" you through the second half of the non conference games. I think you need to practice scoring, practice your passing game, and score often (especially with our young WR). OSU has no problem with it...and many other power 5 teams will brutally score on opponents. It about practicing what you need to improve in a game and where you need experience. Here me out.

Against Miami, we came out the second half and went empty backfield, and due a drop and a few other issues, we weren't successful and punted. We should have come back to it again. It was pretty clear we could run on Miami and ISU, and what we needed work on is blitz pick up and pass protection in general. We also needed to throw the ball to our WRs, other than Vandenburg. Get them work...score 70...and I think you come into NDSU with more confidence, more work in pass protection, and more experience at WR.

Granted I'm not sure it would have helped against NDSU, as somehow we reverted to "playing not to lose"...something we avoided in 2015...but the smell was pretty damn familiar...2010 kind of smell. When you need two first downs to win a game and you tank like that on the last drive because you wanted to run clock...well...the rest is history and you deserve your fate...you had 38 yards rushing at that point Coach and your defense couldn't stop the Golden Girls.
