The Press-Citizen Is Abandoning Iowa Sports, And That's Awful News - Black Heart Gold Pants

I can't say it hurts my feelings to see him not reporting on Iowa anymore but for the Press-Citizen to not be at all is what surprises me. Will Harty be looking for other employment or be loyal to them? Interesting. I know Harty has his fans and people like me that aren't so much. Never the less I'm not crazy about less coverage especially by a long standing local entity. I'd rather have stories and coverage I'm not in agreement with or just don't like as opposed to alot less coverage or even none at all.

This was a big topic of discussion on KGYM yesterday afternoon. They brought up an interesting point. What is the Register going to do when Iowa calls an unscheduled press conference to begin in 1 hour? With the two hour commute from Des Moines to Iowa City, they are not going to make it in time.

When I was a kid, I used to read "The Big Peach" religiously. Now, I can certainly do without the Register.

It's not going to happen. The pressers are scheduled with enough advance notice to allow for that travel.

The Register is a joke. Their "reporting" is atrocious at best.

I'll say I don't care for the Register's football coverage, but Rick Brown is awesome for basketball.

This is a typical Gannett move, which is why I'll always be leery of applying to work at any publication they own. You really don't have much job security, and they frown on getting too creative.

The Register is a non-entity. They don't even occupy their own building. The newspaper is dead. Long live the newspaper!

If the Gazette stops reporting on the Hawks, I will have 0 reason to subscribe to them or even get on to their website. MSR has better prep coverage, and KCRG has the same "news." Their Hawkeye coverage is what sets them apart. I will be seriously upset if Hlas, Morehouse, or Dochterman leave.
