No marble, no tourney.

Either he gets his act together and plays to his potential or we are NIT bound or worse. Simple as that. The future of Iowa basketball rests in his hands probably more than any single person since his dad back in '87.

I slightly disagree. Iowa is better off with him on the bench right now. He's dead space on the floor because he either realizes he can't do the things he's used to and simply doesn't shoot, or he tries to do those things and fails (1-10). Either way, he's not helping right now. He needs to heal up.

Obviously, but a healthy Marble in OT is better than McCabe is the point of the post. He IS healthy BTW. I know for fact.

Based on the last few games, I have more confidence in a Basabe jumper than a Marble jumper. Basabe has developed a nice stroke from 15 feet and in and is shooting with confidence. Ingram or Clemmons had to be a scorer and neither is, so I am not sure what McCaffrey envisioned after losing Gatens and knowing May, McCabe, Olaseni are extremely limited as well. I just wish White would quit choking on late game free throws. The dude plays his tail off, makes great plays, then gags at the line.

If he would just play average to slightly below average, Iowa is winning these games. Him being god awful isn't getting it done.

I'm seeing the date on this, but it doesn't make sense. Did you write this 2 weeks ago and just post it now? NIT is the best case scenario now.

1) This team was never tourney bound. Simply too much inexperience, too many questions. Next year is a different story.

2) NIT was a possibility but those chances are slipping away quickly.

3) Dev strikes me as being too deep into his own head right now. (I, too, suspect that physically he's healthy.) He should ride pine the rest of the season until he gets his mind back into the game. Why do I also suspect his game might improve if Dad wasn't sitting court side each night?

We are not making the tourney, wed have to win out and win a couple bigten tourney games. I just hope we play better and build on something for next year.

Hard to disagree with the premise of this post. It's frustrating because this team is so so close to being pretty darn good. And when White doesn't show up for pretty much over half the game and Marble the whole thing it's just such a head scratcher. I feel bad for Gessel having been a bit of a goat with late turnovers the last few games. He's a true frosh in a tough spot. It never should have came down to those plays to begin with. If a couple of the 3s by Oglesby go in that he didn't miss by much go in. That right there is ball game. Among other things that happened. Is Jok ready to go lol

Which is pretty much the case in Iowa's losses. Pretty disappointing from those 2.

If Marble is physically healthy he needs to play. We have weaker opponents coming up, so hopefully he can find his game.
Without him playing well this team is really void of experienced talent.

I loved how hard the team played, but you can't expect much with guys like May,McCabe and Woodbury or Oleseni on the floor at the same time when the Hawks have the ball.

Now as far as White goes he did play pretty good D all game long. The whole team did I thought. Not many breakdowns. (other than the one by Marble trailing and letting Brust get that wide open layup) I loved Woodbury's aggressiveness and I felt he shoulda played more in the 2nd half even prior to the 1st OT. Refs havn't been doing him many favors.

I agree and I get tired of people saying this is the best 3-7 team they have ever seen.

Judging by the threads out on the basketball forum now. I have seen people calling for Marble, Woody, OJ, McCade and Gabe to stop playing or atleast minimize their minutes.

This team is struggling enough but cutting their depth in half isn't smart either. It's amazing the parity on this board of who deserves minutes and who doesn't.

1 - 50-50

2 - A lock if not NCAA...IMO

Just a gut instinct. It sounds like Roy has been involved with Dev all along; that can be both good and bad. From what I can tell, Roy is there every night for home games and I'm guessing he makes the close road games. Continually being compared with his famous father by so many people (media, fans, sports pundits, opponents) and also hearing speculation that he, too, will make it to the NBA, is likely playing with Dev's head. If he's not playing up to his father's numbers (and expectations), he could be getting down on himself. I don't know any of this as fact. It just seems like he has lost a step and perhaps some confidence in his game. Maybe Dev just needs to be Dev.

#1 True
#2 False. NIT lock
#3 False. Physical, not mental.
