No ABC/ESPN Night Games for Iowa This Year

I am already fired up for the clash between the frightening illini and the buckeyes! The national audience for that one will be...well, it will be.

OSU always pulls in good numbers because of their size and fan base, the Big10 footprint, and the other people who want to see them lose.

One night game a year is OK but I really like day games.

Night games for ABC/ESPN were released yesterday and I didnt see a thread on it. BTN will release their night games in the next week.

Illinois gets one? WTF?

No, Ohio State got one.

The only game on our schedule that would even be considered for an ESPN/ABC night game is Wisconsin. Our schedule this year might be more conducive to winning, but it's garbage for earning primetime TV slots.

Actually OSU got 3.

No Iowa/Nebby? This game was on ABC last two years and I don't exactly remember that being a Clash of the Titans..

I'm aware. My point was that the Illinois-OSU game being a night game on ABC/ESPN has absolutely nothing to do with Illinois. Iowa's biggest game is against Wisconsin, and that's not THAT big from ESPN's perspective.

This is only the night game lineup. I'm assuming the Black Friday game will stay at 11:00.

Actually, I would bet it had more to do with the Iowa/Wisky game being scheduled in the month of November.

ABC has shown a primetime game between Iowa and Wisconsin before, back in 2007. DJK had a sick one handed TD catch and Moeaki dislocated his elbow, IIRC.

It WILL be a big game when both teams roll into town undefeated and highly ranked!

Boom Tork, BBBOOOOOMMM!

So we've got two games that would possibly warrant primetime coverage on ESPN/ABC. Both are in November and the BF game seems pretty well entrenched in the 11:00 timeslot.

Any of our games in August-October are NOT big draws for ESPN. I just don't get why you're so surprised that they didn't want Iowa when the schedule pretty much blows from a ratings perspective.

I've heard that there is a good chance that our home game against Northwestern might be televised at night on the BTN.

Who said I was shocked Iowa didn't get an ESPN/ABC primetime game?I was shocked Illinois was nabbed for one.Plz show me where I was surprised the Hawks didn't get one.

Despite the fact that it was obvious WHY Illinois got one and why Iowa didn't. It's a game against OSU at The Shoe. Urban Meyer wants more night games, and since he's Urban Meyer and he's coaching at Ohio State, he's going to get what he wants more often than not.

Urban hasn't given them a championship yet so I'll wait to see how this all works out for him.
