Decent preview of the game from the Penn State side. Good analysis on where the Penn State program is at right now.

They give their score predictions at the end.

These guys are very hopeful. The almost all think Iowa will get under 20 and that's doubtful.

No it isn't, Iowa only scored 24 in regulation at ISU and the PSU D is much much better. The PSU offense sucks but not their D. In fact I wouldn't be shocked if Iowa won something like 17-10.

jeesh, I've never seen so many advertisements at the beginning of a video. I couldn't get past them all and shut the video off

PSU is tied for the low in TD's allowed,in the league..with only 6.
They are in the top three in all the defensive stats.

Iowa fans have to be prepared for a low scoring game, with Iowa maybe squeaking out a 17-16 win.

I could also see a 14-10 loss.

PSU defense seems pretty good, but if their offense is as bad as these guys say they are, their defense could be on the field for quite a while. That would suggest a strong dose of Coker to try and wear them down. Should be low scoring with an Iowa win, something like 21-17. If we score more than that, could be a blow out but I don't expect that.

I think it will depend on field position for both teams. Iowa is going to have trouble going 80 yards for a TD. They may however, surprise PSU right off the bat and use their uptempo offense and put PSU on their heels. If Iowa can score right out of the chute, quiet down the crowd, and the defense can play well, Iowa has a real shot at winning. If Iowa can force some turnovers and get a short field they will have a shot at scoring. Iowa's running game is not going to be pretty this Saturday.

DID I hear correctly PSU is 50-0 against Indiana all time. Indiana has NEVER beaten PSU? And I thought the OSU/Iowa series was lopsided.

Yeah but their secondary is awful and Iowa passes? oh and we didn't start the no huddle till after Iowa state that is why we didn't score as much

Similar to Michigan, PSU has not played anyone outside of Alabama to accurately assess their defense. Their defense looks good on paper but, again, haven't been tested offensively outside of Alabama. Plus, they are now minus their best defender in Mauti and a corner had some pretty severe injuries a couple of weeks ago. We go no huddle early and pick on their inexperienced and outsized replacement corner we will have success.

I believe I saw somewhere that that series is 15-0 for PSU. Woof.

I also like your assessment of the game. Field position is huge, and if we can get in front early and quiet the crowd, I like our chances.

Go Hawks, hope I get to see a little more upbeat messages on this board after Saturday...I really believe this team has alot of potential and I am frickin pumped to watch them play.

I live in PA and a lot of fans are conceding this game. My boss said, "I have no faith in PSU to ever beat Iowa." :)

Hopefully we can back it up.

Penn States D matches up well against Iowa's offense. However, Penn States offense can't get out of their own way and put points on the board. Which is fortunate because Iowa's defense is still a work in progress.
The key for Penn State is their defense. If the defense can handle a multiple look, multiple weapon offense like Iowa they can win. I doubt they are up to it. Penn State needs the game to be close to have a chance to win. They don't have the offensive muscle to come from behind.
Iowa needs to get on top and put Penn State away early. This is a dangerous game for Iowa. They need to quiet the hostile crowd early. Penn State is always a dog fight but if it turns into a race Iowa wins.

I will be very surprised if Iowa doesn't come out throwing the ball early and often, much like the LMU game. The front seven in PSU's defense is solid, even without Mauti.

We have to move the chains and wear them down in a no huddle...drive after drive. When they adjust, we start pounding the rock with Coker and change of pace with Canzeri. Penn State will be aggressive, as they know if JVB has time, he will beat them with accuracy. Iowa better be ready for blitz packages, because them are coming in a big way.
