NFL Trying M. Nelson at Tackle

Link?

Are we talking offensive or defensive tackle?

If he has the flexibility to play both spots on the D-line, he is going to make a roster and play in the league a decade or so.

Is this supposed to be a knock on Kirk? I mean, it's not like his overall track record with OL is that great. /s

It's not like Matt Nelson was a bad DE or DT, and we've had 2 good OTs the past two years.

Also, thumping your chest about something that A) has yet to actually happen, and B) has yet to pan out as a good decision, seems pretty shortsighted.

Nelson is doing this himself because he thinks it's his best shot or teams have told him this. If he didn't hear this from teams, why would he be working out as a tackle? Let's face it: Nelson, at 6'8" is not a DT. He was serviceable at that position, but he has the length of a big-time tackle...or power forward. Nelson was plugged in at DT because of deficiencies on the DL and poor overall placement. With his size and quickness, he could've been one hell of a tackle.

Where are you seeing that he’s working out as a tackle?

Not to mention we just moved a guy from dl to ol.
I mean yes there are different aspects of the game, but look at how many recruits have played on both sides of the line even before college.
My point is, it's not like taking a wr and asking him to play full back. But a wr could make an excellent DB.

Good for him. I could see that working out for him. Might be a tough thing to do at this stage after being a DLineman for forever till now. But I'm rooting for him

Laying blame on KF...lmfao. Ummm, if you noticed we haven't exactly been deep at DT over the past few years. We needed him on that side of the ball.
