Just wanted to say hey guys. I've been following you for about 2-3 years. I'm down in Florida but am a big Hawkeye fan. There was a thread about a week ago that I wanted to clear up but didn't have permission to post at that time. It was about the schedule next year.
The article posted didn't really explain it right and kind of led some of ya'll to believe that we were going to be playing big teams in the major conferences. On rivals or scout they had the full press conference that the writer of that article picked from. From what I got from it, Fran does want to make the schedule better. He said if were real good then he wants to go after the big boys(Were not there yet). He also said that( and I think it was with Siena) he did good one year. So he upped the strength of schedule and he was saying how it hurt his team that year. He thought it hurt there confidence early in the season. Were not going after Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, or anything like that.. But he's going to step up the level of competition a little. I'd love to see them play UCF since thats where I'm at, It would be a hell of a game. But I think were going to see teams( just by looking at records) Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Clemson, La Salle, Dayton, St. Johns, Pitt, Oklahoma St. and so on. With maybe a couple gimmies thrown in.
Hope that clears some stuff up. That said, I can't wait for Wisky. Its going to be a tough one. Can't wait to see these recruits next year also.. I haven't been this excited about any other previous classes. I really think we have five guys that can come in and help next year. In my mind even though he's the highest ranked I think Woodbury is going to have the most trouble next year. I just see him getting pushed around next year. Hopefully I'm wrong.. But Meyer can ball for being 6'9 - 6'10. He can be a defensive nightmare if he can shoot. That I don't know yet.. Can't wait for the two new point guards. I can't stand Cartwright. Next years going to be interesting. Were young and were going to be losing our best player. Oglesby is going to have to step it up next year.
