Neilson

Why is he on the field for passing downs? He gave up 3 touchdowns trying to cover a receiver. I've watched this happen to much now.

I will miss this guy when he leaves, but in a way it will be nice that people will no longer have a chance to disrespect him. Yes, the inability to spell a name that can be clearly seen on the back of a jersey is a sign of disrespect and inattentiveness. For the last time, his name is NIELSEN!!!!

I don't care how you spell it. He's not good. Gave up THREE touchdowns on passes. Not even mentioning the TWO other big plays he left a man wide open. Terrible.

It makes no difference who the player is, its the D that Iowa plays. Opposing teams know we are going to have a LB covering a WR or slot receiver. They exploit it.

Yes. And it's Jordan BernstINE...not BernstEIN.

So the Iowa defense scheme is leave a guy wide open? Weird. Get a new guy in like Hitchens(Athletic and fast for a LB) on passing third downs.

And your telling me they leave the guy open on purpose basically? No we need a guy that can man up and stick with a guy.

Defensive player of the week last week, goat the next. Tough spot for a 20 year old kid. Perfect example of what have you done for me lately. Give the kid a break.
I would think that, with all that went on this past week in Happy Valley, we would all have been given a proper dosage of perspective.:(

Unless you're playing a no-huddle team, 3rd and 11 should almost always be a dime package down. Castillo may not match up well with number 1s, but he and Lowery could definitely run with the #3 and 4 WRs. Maybe nickel against a team with a good draw game, TE, or running QB.

ding ding, ding your right.. But hahahahahaha on us it just doesn't happen with NORM's Defense.. That is why 3rd and long conversion rate is so high and has been that way for years..

The real question is do Big Ten coaches just pull out the game plan from the last 10 years because we still run the same thing. What do they do with their week? Do they game plan for the game after Iowa or take a 4 day weekend?

The guy he was covering, Bell, is not a receiver, hes a running back.

Based on MSUs personnel package, it wouldn't have made since to take the MLB out.

Yeah exactly a RB beat him. Even worse.

On an empty package there's a reason to have your MLB in? What?

Obviously it wasnt workin.

I'll actually admit to that one. MLB should be in, even in the dime. However, when they empty out and split the RB out all the way to the sideline, a more apt team would check into a MLB blitz and cover the RB with a CB and slide the SS down to cover the slot receiver.

You got a learning disability here? It wasnt an empty personnel package, it was a regular package, and the RB motioned out into the slot.

Generally speaking its hard to substitute once the other team is on the LOS.
