There is no way any of us can know what stanley was seeing on these long passes unless we had a side by side synchronized view of Stanley and the receiver. Too many posters and people calling into radio shows complaining about him missing his receivers.
Watch again the deep miss to Smith-Marsette and you will see S-M make his stop move and as he comes out of that move he takes another step or two but then has to take half stride to get inside position on the Dback. What was Stanley doing during that little half stride when S-M lost speed? Was he eyeing S-M was he just starting his throwing motion? Maybe that little half step threw off the timing.
A poster on the game thread said he thought Fant was grabbed or jostled slight by the safety during the first long pass overthrow and that would have messed up timing. We just dont know all the dynamics here.
Nate S has a strong arm and it is best to miss a little long unless you have an all world receiver who can go up and win every jump ball. I think he will learn to take a little off or add a little loft.
