Need better defense by shortening the bench to spark fast break

OUr defense sets up the offense fast break. Time to shorten the bench or at least decrease their playing time. When a team like Mich or OSU shoots 45% or better then we dont get rebounds and fast breaks. Need White, Basabe, gabe, and woody on the court to get blocks, and redirect shots, need gesell and marble to get steals and deflections.

I would say going into these last 8 important games that unless they are in foul trouble Gabe and Woody should be at the center spot 40 minutes a game. McCabe and Uthoff would only get short minutes spelling Basabe and white.

Gesell needs to be on the court as does Marble and Marble needs to start driving to the rim until he gets his shot back. Sapp and Josh in short minutes. If Josh is on fire he gets more minutes.

Maybe time for the Gabe and Woody on the court at the same time experiment.
 
We don't even have 5 good players, this whole team ******* sucks. Not Fran's fault there isn't an ounce of talent on this squad.
 
My favorite part about message boards is all the people that think they can be good coaches.

Amazing really... Fran starts recruiting these guys when they're in high school. He has contact with them year round. He's with them at practice several months out of the year during their 4 years at Iowa. Yet you know better than Fran what should be done by watching them for less than 2 hours twice a week. I wish I had your gift.

Message bods are for opinions whichmean squat. So mine is to limit McCabes minutes. He isn't doing much to help the team right now. GO is playing out of his mind right now and deserves more minutes. Would like to see a twin tower look for once. Need more Cowbell(GO)

I luv his game plan, we look awesome when we are defending, causing turnovers and missed shots and running the break for high percentage baskets.

The problem is that teams are for whatever reason starting to shoot higher percentages and take care of the ball, probably because they are better competition ....

but I think also because we dont have our best defensive players out there enough minutes.

Iowa has a good bulk of 'Other Team'-ish players. Marble normally is the one thriving, but lately it's Gesell and Olaseni, thriving more than you could've imagined. All Marble has to do is have a fast enough first step to get the middle defenders on their heels. After that it's just a question of which hand he's floating it in with. I don't see how this would hurt Basabe and White. Plenty of rebounds to put back, (Basabe) (Marble), some even need slammed back in White (has to be White). Gesell and Olaseni may have a whole lot more to say about our future as a half court team before this thing is all told!

Our better defensive guys are Gesell-Marble-McCabe-Basabe-Olaseni. Whether it's bodyin' up or just flat out not a lineup you see Michigan force us into then at least give me the dignity of looking at it judgingly. Go ahead, scowl at it as you walk by. I will not be going in to play D&D, Atari or just Board Games. k, maybe just Wheel of Fortune! Plays on the Atari only with Dungeons and Dragons games and designs. *after realizing Wheel of Fortune was really fun* We GOTTA ****in' try that Dungeons. When Dungeons has nothing to do with the one involving and Dragons, you even get bored with that. Shake Yahtzee cup or roll Monopoly? Solo both games. Again, that's how confident I am about this lineup.

All seniors except for the two mega-defenders Gesell and Olaseni. They put a body on you, aren't postable and won't budge if slammed into.
