Need a big win by Illini this saturday against wisky

Illinois can extremely help out the hawks by taking down the badgers. I think their interim coach seems to be a motivator and good coach and the illini have some offense and a pretty good, active defense. Or maybe jNW can play lights out at Madison so they dont have another 2nd half slide, and Wisky plays their last game at Minny.

Illinois only has one loss but that was to Iowa and the illini have to play at Ohio St.

Minny has Mich at home and then at Ohio St the next two games before they play the hawks. Minny could really be beaten down by the time the hawks play them but as it is right now I hope they get up for Sr day and beat Wisky that last game.

Go Illini

Keep playing like we have been, get some guys healthy and then we won't need anyone to help us out.Go Hawks

It never hurts to have a safety net.

If Illinois could somehow beat Wisconsin, then Iowa would have to lose 3 games for either Wisconsin or jNW to finish ahead of the Hawks. Something tells me that Illinois will probably finish 5-3/4-4, and Iowa also owns the tiebreaker over them. Nebraska and Minnesota already have 2 losses and Purdue is a dumpster fire with a trip to Kinnick upcoming.

I'm an Illinois fan this week, and yes that was painful to say.

Would love for Illinois to beat Wisconsin, but don't see it happening. The Badgers will be getting Clement back, and I think they are going to run the table the rest of the regular season.

Can the Hawks go 4-1 the rest of the way? It is going to be interesting!

good points.

Its not obvious who is better, ILL or wisc. Whoever does win, might get ranked, except ILL still has to play OSU.

so if the goal is to create more cushion for Iowa in division race, you want ILL to win.

If the goal is for Iowa to have some wins against ranked opponents, you want Wisc to win.

This is probably why I don't worry about what other teams do unless Iowa has a chance to clinch with another team's loss.

For now, Iowa should just keep focusing on winning and everything will take care of itself.

Don't need a win from Illinois, need a big win form Wisconsin, and get them back into the top 25..

I see Pitt is 25 in the AP this week.

Who gives a $hit about Top 25 wins or lack thereof? If we go 13-0, that means we would have a win against either Mich, OSU or MSU as our final statement game. I guarantee you the CFP commitee will NOT leave out an undefeated B1G team. And when you throw in the fact that all of the teams ahead of us right now in the Top 25 play another team ahead of us at least once, with the exception of okie st, then by process of elimination, we would be one of the few, if not only, undefeated team left.

If we DONT finish undefeated, then we want teams that have a chance to jump us for the west division to lose. That means we want Wisky and Nebby to lose as many of their remaining games as possible.

Exactly. Not sure why some people don't understand that.

So this attitude presumes the Hawks wont win out. We dont need to 'back into' anything. Just win..everything takes care of itself

I think the hawks great play and the schedule gives a good chance that the hawks can win out, maybe 80%.

But please tell me how many undefeated seasons the hawks have had since 1922 or so. How many? Zero Zero Zero.

It is against the odds that the hawks win out and I want to see them win the division and have a chance for the Big 10 title.

I dont see how people dont want this west division locked up by the trip to Nebby.

Everyone wants an undefeated season, but Iowa has never done it before. It's a long shot, but possible.

Iowa needs to know that the BIG West Division is wrapped up prior to the trip to Lincoln. The drama of a game where Iowa has everything to lose might be good for TV ratings, but Iowa fans would be devastated with a loss to Nebraska that results in another team winning the West. And lets be honest, this is still Nebraska, in Lincoln. It's not like Iowa is playing at Kansas or at Purdue.

Nebraska will have their issues behind them by the time Iowa rolls to town and be ready to play. Isn't that how it always works? A team struggles until they play Iowa?

Very compelling agrument. It has never happened in the past so going undefeated this year isn't going to happen?

Hawks get healthy and we'll run the table. 2015 is the year for the Cubs & Hawks. Go Hawks!
