They say they are adding seats. I suspect they need wider ones.
LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Nebraska is planning a $56 million expansion of Memorial Stadium to add about 5,000 seats and additional luxury suites.
University officials released details of the plans Friday.
The stadium's current capacity is 81,067. Nebraska has the longest sellout streak in college football, dating to 1962, and its team is currently ranked seventh in the country.
Nebraska officials say they plan to add between 2,000 and 2,200 seats in a new covered and heated section and between 2,500 and 2,800 general seats. A new suite level on the east side of the stadium would allow for 400-500 more people.
The project would be paid for by $40.5 million in private donations and $15 million in revenue bonds. It would be done before the 2013 football season.
